Gold (in tiny, tiny molecular flakes) can actually be used medicinally. Not the point of adding it to alcohol, but just saying.

Something similar to that, iirc, but I honestly don't remember. Just read/heard about it some time ago and thought I'd mention.

Yes, edible gold leaf, flake, or dust is used as a decoration in highfalutin cuisine. You can buy it from dealers in bakery and restaurant supplies. It's considered medicinal in some Asian cuisines. I was told by an Indian chef that the bit of gold leaf on my rogan josh was good for the digestion.

Colloidal gold has legitimate uses in arthritis and cancer treatment. But colloidal gold is not the shiny stuff.

"In reality, gold is known for its softness and malleability, and given that the flakes do not have sharp edges, no such lacerations occur." Straight from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldschl%C3%A4ger I was always told it was to cut the throat so the alcohol would be absorbed straight into the bloodstream; in reality it's just a status symbol.

Start a rebellion, move into those apartments, and install a throne. Problem solved.

All homes should come with a http://www.glennsasscer.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/toilet.jpg installed.

That is really frustrating though. I don't see any adds for a gulfstream and if I did I would be the same kind of pissed off. As is I would sound "Hey, fantastic. I just need to find whoever bought that thing so I can get my lunch money!!" Something to aspire to is a house, car, and a few toys. Something to kill for, for many people, is that kind of stuff.

Not saying rich people are murderers, just venting.

News TV typically attracts a wealthy crowd, seems as good as place as any to promote a luxury suite... With the exception of Rich Man magazine.

Maybe they assume the lower classes wouldn't be able to afford a computer? Maybe?

We can argue whatever a "middle class" exists here or not. I do not think it does.

My dad is a psychiatrist, my mom is a consultant , they are divorced and i am impoverished.

So theoretically you could say that i am middle class ,but with non of the resources a middle class in a developed country enjoys. (aka a decent living)

A doctor here makes around half of the american minimum wage per month , a starting high school teacher makes the minimum wage 200$ per month, with the rent starting from 200$ per month in Bucharest.

If we do have a middle class here its very fragile and very small in numbers and its not employed in the public sector, in my opinion.

Most romanians have rural roots, so many get by with such a small wage (they have parents/grandparents in rural lands) ,yet many don't.

Romania is a very atypical country in many , many ways, the class system included.

Most of the western standards don't work here ,in my opinion.

Well, then (no offence intended) you're unlikely to get a fair and balanced response on a board where most people are from 'the west' are you?

This.

Provided the company wishing to advertise has paid the correct amount of money to the channel owners, they can advertise what they want. Yes, it's unfortunate that you can't afford it...but, as you said, barely anyone else can, right? So why are you so pissed off?

Also, on the subject of lager with gold bits...LUSH! It cuts your throat slightly to allow the alcohol direct entry to your bloodstream...excellent stuff1

I don't mean to sound offensive but this is just one of those things you have to experience yourself to understand.

....Except it doesn't. :( Old urban legend, gold is too soft to cut you. All that happens is if you drink enough you could maybe excrete small amounts of solid gold. Which would be pretty cool.

You are right, in developed countries you talk about quality of life while we here talk about survival, that's a big cultural gap.

Tough i considered empathy to be a border crossing trait.

I don't know about survival, if you can afford a computer and an internet connection you'll hardly die of starvation any time soon.

Exactly. You have a computer and an internet connection, and since you spend your time in this forum you probably have money to buy games too. If you're having a hard time feeding yourself you ought to reconsider your priorities. Besides, Romania isn't exactly Ghana or something - it ranks 47th out of 181 in GDP, which is in the upper third.

This is coming from someone who grew up in Belarus (71st GDP, for the record).

Its OK to be pissed off at an add, but you shouldn't be saying we are heartless and rich because we don't agree with you.

They cut off my internet 2 days ago, lucky for me my mom payed it fast so i got it back. Internet prices are low here ,in conformity with our wages.

As for priorities i'd rather eat less or not go out and keep my only connection to the world , self educate myself and find out about prospects i would have no way of knowing about without the internet.

My computer was payed for with a 4 year credit.

I assure you i am not exaggerating, i will attend university (its free here) this fall and i will leave my home, my mom's wage will be cut with 25% (austerity measures) in august and the "winter maintenance" (aka heat) prices will double if not triple this winter. My mother will have to chose between food or heat this winter.

I am sure growing up in Belarus was hard and i am happy that you made it out, i hope i will too, someday.

I'm sure that life is hard for the impoverished and struggling Romanian Proletariat and that compared to you I live like Bill Gates, but if you still have a computer to sell you're not struggling for survival. Only for a better quality of life, regardless of how low it is at the moment. So yeah, you are exaggerating.

I've been in that situation (chose food), and I live in America. You can stop with the victim routine. There is poverty everywhere. You wanna get angry? Get angry at all the people who think socialism is a dirty word.
