Hello there,

Bycote and me proudly pronounce the hopefully soon release of AOF's Potions. Because I only can release this mod in German, Bycote is working out the english version for you guys.

Here are the http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae224/mwscreen/_aof_icons.jpg http://i974.photobucket.com/albums/ae224/mwscreen/_aof_screen_blank.jpg.

Special feature is the different colouring for magic schools and different effects (like restore magicka and restore health).

Thanks a lot and many hugs for AOF's great work on these models and textures. I don't want to distress Bycote, so I can't give you a release date for the EV, but I'm really looking forward it :)

Those look amazing. I've never seen those before. I assume by sort and display, you mean that you're going to go through the game, and make sure everything fits well? I had considered doing the same thing in the past with one of the smaller vials plugins, but I couldn't get things to look good without adding a LOT of new potions, so I scrapped it.

yeah. no floaters, no sunk-ins. each potion has the colour of the mage school and is divided in 5 models sorted by effect and then by quality. special effects have special colours, so the restore health and magicka are different and have their own colour, shields are yellow (because there is no conjuration potion) to divide them well from the others. Healing potions have the same shape but each it's unique colour.

and for every potion there is an icon.

AOF did the hell of a job with these, the vials look like gems :)

I was just thinking the same thing, after viewing that screen! Really fine work. I hope it will be done soon, and released, too. Very fine work.

Indeed. As I was playing Morrowind today and exploring one of the caves in the bitter coast region, I saw something shiny undewater and guess what? It was a healing potion, but the feeling of actualy seeing it was great. :D

I think I'm nearly finished with the English version of this mod. If I find the energy tonight or some free time tomorrow I should be able to wrap it up and Sister and I will talk about a release. :^)

OK Sister, I just finished translating your ESP file to English. It's late so I'll have to test it in-game tomorrow, I'll let you know how it works.

Also, I play with the expansions Tribunal and Bloodmoon so I'll also be checking those potions and fixing them tomorrow if I have the time.

thanks for your great work!

maybe you have to look through the potions in morrowind once more, since i found some floaters i forgot - mostly standard ones. maybe you make a copy of this esp before you adjust mournhold and solstheim, so we can offer it for people with and without the addons?

please tell me in which time-zone you live so i can imagine your time and maybe be online the same time. i have cet+1 (it's 1.00 pm now quite exactly)

Those look great!
Though a bit too "pristine" for my taste.
Still beautiful work.

Why should potions not be pristine? Not like you can buy them used.? :lmao:

Sorry guys, but I'm afraid I ran into problems when testing my plugin today. Yesterday I decided to simply translate Sister's German plugin to English rather than re-doing all of her work, unfortunately, converting the cells to their English names did not have the desired effect. Instead of modifying the locations of the potions in these cells, the plugin simply generates "missing object" errors when used in the game. :^(

It's really no big deal, it just means it's going to take longer than I hoped and I will, in fact, be doing the tedious work of repositioning the potions by hand. Fortunately, Sister has already located many of the potions in the game which need fixing so I'll have a much easier time of it than she did! :^)

I didn't have much time to work on this today after testing it and realizing my error. I probably got through about 1/6 of all the potions Sister repositioned in her German plugin. Hopefully I'll find some free time in the next few days and I'll have Vvardenfell wrapped up by the weekend, then I'll start on Mournhold and Solstheim.

Take all the time you need, Bycote. We appreciate the effort, and I'm sure nobody wants you to put the mod ahead of reallife. Thanks once again for all you've done!

Alright, good news! The island of Vvardenfell is done! :^)

Unfortunately, while working on this today I noticed some inconsistencies in the icons and meshes used for the various potion qualities and types in Sister's plugin so this still isn't ready to be released quite yet. I'll have a talk with Sister about it but I think I'll probably end up going through the CS and arranging the potions to use the meshes and icons I feel are best for them, which will take a while.

At this point I think we can realistically hope for a Vvardenfell-only release sometime in the middle of the week with Mournhold and Bloodmoon releases to follow shortly thereafter. :^)

hm, i would like to keep it that way, because i did this for aesthetic reasons... <_<

will you people take this as a mistake?

I didn't mean to accuse you of making any mistakes, I was actually very confident that you used those meshes and icons on purpose. Sorry if I communicated any disrespect to you, it wasn't intended! :^)

I don't even disagree with most of the meshes/icons you've chosen to use, I just noted them as being inconsistent as a matter of fact, that's all. And to everybody reading this, I should clarify that there are very few inconsistencies at all - off the top of my head, the "spoiled" potions use the wrong icons, the various "cure" and "detect" potions use the "cheap" mesh/icon, the "dispel" potion uses the "exclusive" mesh/icon, and the waterwalking/breathing potions use the "cheap" mesh/icon.

These are the changes I currently intend to make:

1. The dispel potion, it currently uses the "exclusive" mesh and icon, but it's really not a very high quality or useful potion (is it?). I will change it to use the "standard" mesh/icon because I feel that better represents the quality of this potion.

2. The various "spoiled" potions seem to be using the wrong icons. They have "exclusive" and "quality" icons assigned to them but they use the "bargain" meshes.

what do you mean with spoiled potions?

wrong icons i will correct immediately. sorry for that. the only potions i did this was the cure potions to have a better view on the colour.
