Another Bye Bye thread...

Post » Sun Jun 26, 2011 3:22 pm

16 players online in the USA as I type. (8:00 am PST Saturday morning) The game is dead here. Except for the DDD server and I got it hand it to Geronimo cause he has worked hard... too hard no thanks to the game itself, to keep that server on top.

My CLASSIC mode server has been toast since the 1.8 patch and the removal of the gl_startgame server command. Empty prewar svcks, especially in CLASSIC mode. The server is impossible to fill now.

If gl_startgame is not there when the 1.9 patch arrives then that will be the last nail in the coffin for me and my server.

I know it wont happen so here are my parting remarks...

Over the years, I have run successful FARCRY, Crysis, and Crysis Warhead servers. Never was it so restrictive as it is now. It has been completely frustrating and a waste of time and money trying to provide a decent and well admined server for Crysis2.

Crytek, I have submitted at least 3 threads on this topic and not once has "Cry-Anyone" responded. You have lost a repeat customer and valiant marketeer for your games. I have purchased multiple copies of FarCry, Crysis and Crysis Warhead over the years as well as 3 retail copies of C2 for myself and friends. Yep, you made some dough on this old gamer over the years. I hope you spend it well. I am moving on. Good day, and good bye. peace...

Classic mode and 8 AM on a US server. What gamer is awake at 8 AM, and what Crysis 2 player does classic mode? This game is all about the nano suit. Not to be a douche, but that was a poor decision on your part.

I'm betting on a boom in playerbase in the weeks following this next update. I wouldn't bounce so quickly if I where you. I agree with war_spirit and SDub, classic mode just isn't where it's at.

What's your server name? I like the classic mode and I'm sure I can get some friends in there too. as far as the gl_startgame deal, just use an older version of the tool, like C2PRO EAI version 0.6

Well, I can't fault the OP for hosting a server running the mode he likes. Some people just like the good old "classic" gameplay. I helped run a successful modded MW server that disabled all perks, so it was more "classic" gameplay. That server ran for almost 7 months before we took it down and moved on. It was also the last CoD title I actually supported. heh

Anyway, I think the OP should wait as well. 8AM on a Saturday, in the summer, not exactly the best time to find all the gamers. We got 1.9, DX11, and the high-res texture pack releasing on Monday. I expect an influx of new players as well as old ones returning. So choosing right now as the time to bail is probably a bit premature.

I have gamed Saturday mornings for years. It has always been a pretty good time to get in a few hours of fraggin on the west coast. (East coast is 3 hours ahead so many gamers are up and gunning)

Not to drag this out, but CLASSIC mode is the closest thing to FARCRY assault mode that C2 offers. If you played that mode back in the day, then you would understand why I, and many other "classic fps" players, enjoy that type of gameplay.

There are so few players left playing this mode that I have got to be able to manually start games with under 4 people just to attract the small player base to the server. The server will go if players know that joining it will garner them points regardless of minimum player count. Look, this mode gives no rewards for suit perks anyway, so whats the big deal in letting people run thru the maps and get some points?

I was one incharge of 25 16 player USA online servers called (TBAG) and we just recently removed ALL of them because Crytek cant figure out the rampid cheating that is still going on. So we are reverting or servers to BF3 comes out. Anyone interensted we will have OVER 10 new servers for BF3 so around 30 TBAG servers if you are interested!

Maybe you will have better luck with Crysis Wars?

If you are going to hop off of Crysis 2, at least roll back a version to somewhere, it could gain some traffic if it gets proper support. :) If it doesn't gain traffic well, no pain in trying... it sure isn't getting populated in its current state.

Troll see ya posts? You do realize it's the guys which pay for servers so YOU can play on them for free are stopping them. You sound like a console player to use to P2P. Stick to that and leave the PC's and dedi's to the big boys.
