Another day, another game series ruined...

Here's the trailer for Mafia 3 in case you haven't watched it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQI6Cq74HYo

And here is some gameplay.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCxXOSZABLc

Just like BIA Furious 4 they ruined the game by turning on it's roots and trying to make it cool and new. You don't even play as part of the Mafia anymore. You play as some New Orleans black gang. If I wanted that I'd play GTA San an. I play Mafia games to wear trench coats and go about with a Tommy gun and in a trench coat and trilby.

Pros -

Better graphics

Cons -

Don't play as Mafia

Physics are terrible

Gun play is crap. It used to be slow and realistic. Now it's like Just cause.

Bad setting.

Clothing looks terrible.

GTA/Just cause clone.

2k why have you forsaken us?

Dear video game companies please stop trying to be clever and ruining old series. If you want to do a cool new story make a new ip instead of riding the coat tails. It keeps happening. Furious 4, nothing to do with BIA, Hardline, nothing to do with the Battlefield series and now this.

All that was needed was a new story, more variety in weapons and clothing, more stuff to do, combat/ai tweaking and graphical enhancements.

I bet they removed all the cool stuff to do with filling cars up with petrol, modifications and such.

So basically, you want call of duty? Same formula, no innovations, just more cool gear and minor tweaking.

Quit complaining, you've only seen one video, just because it's not exactly what you thought it would be doesn't mean it will be crap.

I don't like what they've done to the hitman games.

And Call of Duty is a very successful franchise, and a very fun game. My only gripe with Call of Duty is the amount of cutscenes. Besides that the gameplay is solid. It doesn't have to be anything else besides a very fun shooter.

Newsflash buddy: Mafia has ALWAYS been pretty clunky. Anyone who says Mafia or Mafia 2 are fluid have either only played those two games in all their lives or they're lying to themselves. I don't play Mafia for the gameplay, I play for the open world fun and a rich story. To be honest, it sounds like your whole point is "There's a black guy and now it svcks!" which is obvious in that your first notice is 'San Andreas' when this looks nothing like GTA: SA. Also, judging a game's depth in gameplay and plot purely by its E3/tech/whatever you want to call it demo is like saying you understood all the plot hooks of a film by watching its trailer. They always show off the 'coolest' bits or the most action packed. Also, Mafia 2 is a loosely 1950s themepark with little real historical accuracy, so you've already been playing a 1950s GTA anyway.

I for one am intrigued to see this spin on the series because as cool as some mob games and movies are, the Italian in slick hair and sharp suit with a tommy gun in an old Chrysler is just such a beaten horse to explore. Wise-Guy accented guys, all business jerk unlikables and the 'sleazy greaseball' cliches are all bound to show up in one mobster-centric show and Mafia 2 had all those. So I like this fresh spin on a timeless series and I can't wait to see where the series heads. If you don't like it, stick to Mafia 2, end of story.

If you were able to read you would be able to reply without the pathetic straw man argument. In games people want similarity, but with enough change to make it interesting. It isn't like CD projekt red were like lets make Geralt have guns in Witcher 3 because new and exciting hurr hurr. They improved graphics, combat, and added an open world among other things. They have a game with guns coming up, called Cyberpunk 2077. They didn't feel the need to shoehorn it into a Witcher game. Call of Duty is also guilty of this. Moving away from it's WW2 roots and trying to become Halo or Titanfall.

It will be crap. That video tells me enough. You could tell instantly from the small clips Just cause showed that the combat was tighter, graphics better etc. If people like you stopped defending this rubbish they might stop doing it. It isn't exactly far fetched to want to play as the mafia in a MAFIA game...

Newsflash buddy, learn to read. I never said that Mafia 1 or 2 was fluid. lmao. Hence you know I wrote about combat enhancements...

The whole gameplay section looks and feels like GTA/Just Cause. They should have let 2k czech handle it instead of handing it over to the Americans.

Who are you to presume anything about me? The main character is just one part that is wrong with the new game, along with the setting and the gameplay. Why is it wrong to want to play as an Italian Mafia member in a MAFIA game... The trailer had me worried, but I thought the clothing and weapons would make up for it and we'd still get the traditional mafia wear. Instead we get terrible clothing, terrible weapons with even worse physics and a supposedly 40 year old Vito who looks 65.

To try and say that this game isn't a complete GTA clone is a joke. If you played the other Mafia games you would know they played completely differently to GTA. The Italian Mafia has been done to death. Are you serious. I bet you are one of those people who complains about WW2 being done to death when in reality for the past 8 years all we've had is futuristic mumbo jumbo.

I'm not sure if you even played Mafia games if you played for the open world fun. The map was desolate in the old games and that was one thing that was hoped to be changed.

So you think that watching gameplay tells you nothing about the game? People didn't even see any gameplay for BIA Furious 4 but still hated it. Not hard to understand.

Do you think the gameplay video has loads of dislikes for no reason? How about reading the comments...

So much anger in such fingers.

I have played the second one, the first one I couldn't get to work. Mafia 2 has its own gimmicks, but overall its free roam is pretty empty when you finish the main story of Mafia 2 or its DLCs. Name one activity beyond running around gunning down people you can do. You can't. Yeah, Mafia 2 had neat little gimmicks like running out of gas or being pulled over for minor infractions, but those are just details in a pretty empty game. Like I said, Mafia 2 is pretty much a 1950s theme park with very few rides. There's no races to be had, no kinds of mini-games and no real details to explore by and large beyond exploring the textures of the world. It's a nice world, but very empty. You seriously sound mad because "It's black, not an Italian Mobster." in all your complaining of what is wrong with the game when we know NOTHING of the game yet. Also, to say World War 2 hasn't been done to death is just absurd. Look at all the 1950s-1970s sitcoms who had the World War 2 veteran family members, look at all the movies involving characters in wartorn Europe during World War 2, look at all of the games revolving around World War 2 and World War 2 combat. We haven't had a ton of stuff like that anymore because it's a dead horse. I'm sure you are upset because it's not the 'in' thing to develop around anymore, but it's just not marketable save to a niche audience looking to play around in a 1940s-1950s themepark and Mafia 2 caters to both of those. I enjoy 1940s-50s nostalgia, but that also doesn't mean I can't see that the generally perceived hammy nature of most things revolving around it is a turn off for most people today. Throw all the temper tantrums and call me all the names of how I'm just an uncultured and uneducated philistine all you want, but I recognise why Mafia 3 isn't sticking to generic stereotypes and I'm willing to give this a shot because it looks fun.

Says WW2 games have been overdone... talks about 1950s sitcoms... lol

Brb Vietnam hasn't been overdone?

I was the one who said Mafia 2 had an empty open world when you said that was one of the main reasons you played it.

You seem to have a weird preoccupation with race. Are you a closet racist or something?

I'm fine with playing as a black guy, when it makes sense. Gta V or BoGT. I don't mind playing as a middle eastern guy in Assassins creed in the middle east. It makes sense. Playing as a Japanese member of Yakuza in Yakuza. Makes sense. Them changing up the race of the character had me worried, but I thought it'll be fine they'll keep the Mafia feel. Instead when I see the gameplay vid it is ruined. Terrible setting, terrible combat, ludicrous physics. Jumping out of a speeding car and suffering no damage. Wow so innovative. Amazing 10/10.

Again with the fallacious arguments. Can't think up anything real to say so make up stuff and pretend I said it.

I think you will find the majority are sick of the futuristic rubbish and are waiting for decent WW2 game to be made. Cod has only been kept going by young fans who get swept up in the hype.
