Another failed attempt by Crytek at a FPS

Post » Fri Mar 08, 2013 2:00 am

I come from a long history with C2. I suffered through the lack of support, money grab DLC, and other oddities. I watched a Twitch TV episode today and thought, maybe they got it right. Well, much to my dismay they failed again.

The server migration doesn't work, period. No lessons learned from C2.
The hit detection is 50/50. No lessons learned from C2.
The connections are garbage - all red bars. No lessons learned from C2.

This may be a great title for he PC, but stay away from the console. Graphics do not make a great game, and this is all that C3 has going for it on console.

Great concept, but once again; poor execution. Shame on Crytek.

It really is comical how freaking horrible the multiplayer is. I only recently picked up crysis 2 mainly because I recently got a 3D TV and the graphics looked sweet for 3D. And they are. I didn't play the crysis 2 multiplayer and played the crysis 3 beta for prolly 3 hours.

Anyway crysis 3 is downright horrible. The multiplayer experience is normally the kind of thing that would have me infuriated but I swear this thing is so over the top downright inept that all I can do is laugh. If this is the best they can do they might want to try another genre.

I just put in a half hour of futility and in prime time on Xbox the day after release there was 1,300 people playing tdm. And 600 playing crash site. Obviously the masses were clued into what I was not- that this title is a farce.

Full lobbies of red bars except for the singular magic green bar player. Player movement like a stick in the mud. No host migrations apparently so I'm getting kicked numerous times a night. Point blank mag dumping into enemies backside that has no affect, literally. It's like I'm not shooting at them at all. At one point tonight there was an enemy standing still in the middle of the battlefield(maybe we was taking a piss?)literally doing nothing and three(3!) of us stand right next to him shooting Him. Nothing happens to him. He just takes it like a bauce and keeps standing there.

So for you guys with experience with crysis, is this it? Is the what we get for our 60 bucks? Is there going to be support? Patches, server side fixes, etc... I don't know that I even really care because this seems destined for the bargain bin but I am curious.

Bottom line the multiplayer is a complete debacle. A sham. I'm trying to think of a recent fps that was this pathetic and all I can think of is homefront. Oh well. Good hunting gents, LOL.

I'm loving it my shots hit and I'm having a great time I can't see your screen so I don't know but everything is working fine for me. The recoil is a bit strong in this game maybe you're used to halo 4 super bullet magnetism but I'm getting head shots across the map.

Yeah, and I'm sure the really low number of players is making the connection issues worse.

Actually yes, yes it is. When people come on the forums and see losers like you complaining about lag issues then no one will buy the game and thus less suitable hosts.

Come on man there's like 2,000 people on Xbox right now. The game is a day old. My observations aren't affecting a dang thing. Apparently the masses saw this coming. I didn't play crysis 2 multiplayer so I wasn't aware of the issues I'm reading about now. I'm sure ill enjoy the campaign and maybe the multiplayer will improve but the numbers speak for themselves. Clearly consumer faith in this product was low.
