He seems more nervous more than anything. Maybe he's just not good in interviews?

Interesting, I didn't find it to be like that at all.

To me it seemed that the interviewer really wanted to know something about PC- and console-development. Is the game going to be a simple port, or not?
And Neil did struggle quite much to maneuver his answers around this actual topic, so he was mainly trying to talk about "there are consoles and there are PCs and each have their pros and cons".

I didn't really get why he said he isn't looking forward to the next console generation. Even as a designer those will mean a lot more freedom to him, because of more available ressources.

1) The reason he spoke around the question is most likely because he didn't want people to choose one platform over another, or make the interviewer(360) feel like it was lesser on the console somehow.
The question was specifically about Graphics. And I'm pretty sure SD wouldn't release this game for consoles with crappy graphics. In fact, from what Ive seen, they are great. They just won't be as good as my rig. (high end gaming PC)

2) Replying to Revo:
I didn't really get why he said he isn't looking forward to the next console generation. Even as a designer those will mean a lot more freedom to him, because of more available ressources.

I think it might be because of the fact that the next generation of consoles will require a lot more development.
Trust me.

I find it interesting all these developers are starting to make the same comments about consoles and pc comparison. My feel from these developers Bach from Dice now Alphonso they are all saying the same thing under their breath when will new console come out to help us from a developer stand point. They are getting to the point where their hands are getting tied behind their back because of this lack of development process from the console end. They all have to answer the same question over and over "will console look different than PC?" YES then they try to back track but game play will be the same. TRUE however, with time game play will be affected simple example is destruction (BF3) once this gets more popular things will have to be upgraded on console side or the programmers are really going to be screwed (so will the console gamer).

Cool interview. I was PC player then got an Xbox 360 in 06. PC was cool but I like Xbox with my TV. and ease of use. Heard that there is a new Xbox in development for 2014.

Consoles have much better sales than PC.

A developer rather sacrifices a good feature, than money.

So... Battlefield had to compromise on their destruction, did they?

How come Red Faction was fine on consoles with a far more complex destruction system?

I don't think the system is at fault with that argument, i think it's sloppy coding making it more difficult.

This is supported by the fact that a game with a larger free-roaming environment than the entire GTA series put together was able to fit on a 700KB floppy disk in 1993. With almost enough room for a second copy of the game. You could fit THREE COPIES OF IT on a single 1.44MB disk, along with several saved games.

1. yes I believe it will. 1 has 64 players the other will have 24 players. That has a significant impact on game play and destruction.

2. coding port fail.

Coding is 1 of the problems with these developers of games trying to pump them out as fast as they can. Maybe coding will get better and maybe world peace will happen.
With life expectancy for consoles looking to be another 3 years at least which platform do you think will suffer the most?

To be brutally honest, this thread appears a bit pointless and pretty much covered piece by piece in every other topic. It wouldn't be productive or interesting, just a load of people venting unneccessarily. Sorry.
