Another Look at F4 at E3

Post » Tue Dec 01, 2015 9:06 pm

I took another look at the Fallout 4 E3 footage and noticed a few things. First off, the SMs look different than what we see in F3. But so do the feral ghouls and deathclaws and Yao Guai. I just think it is an updated look to these creatures. The only reason I bring this up is because some are hoping the SM are from the Midwest.

When the PC gets his pipboy, I noticed under weapons is a "compensated pipe rifle" and "short laser musket" which tells me a) you can mod before you get your pipboy, b. your vault was broken into at some point and you've scavenged these weapons. Under "apparel", your wedding ring is active. Also when you speak to Godsworth, you don't know about your family and how much time has past.Under "misc" are four logs. Like in F3, I'm assuming the latest logs are listed at the top. So from top to bottom are as follows: "Your new assignment" which may describe the function and purpose of the vault, "We are done" which may be the final log of the inhabitants of the vault as they find themselves in mortal danger. "Technician's Log" and the "Groundskeeper's Log" I can only imagine someone who does regular maintenance on many cryogenic capsules being called a "groundskeeper."

When the PC shoots down the vertibird in the game footage, if you slow it down, the person in the vertibird doesn't look like any other BOS we have seen before, but it is shown to be a "Brotherhood Initiate." The guy has a shaved head and is wearing army green fatigues.

ARTWORK

Noticed a few more things in the artwork(I'm sure most of us have looked at the artwork many times). There is an aerial view of the town of Lexington. You see the town sign "Lexington" and just to the right is a manufacturing plant or power plant and you can read "Atomic" as in Atomic General. Side note: When your modding your power armor, you choose what paint you want, "Military paint"," Vault tec paint", or "Atom Cat paint."

Noticed someone has made a shack out of what looks to be petroleum storage container, the ones found at oil refineries, and has a sign that says"Mass Power." It also looks to have a periscope on top of the building.

CRAFTING

It really does look like everything in the game can be broken down and used on your weapons and settlements. I noticed during the Junk Jet footage just before he uses the teddy bear as ammo that the teddy bear can be broken down to give you 3 leather cloth. Some of he the crating materials will be copper, aluminum, silver, gold, ceramics, gears, plastic, glass, fiber optics, wood, adhesives, steel, screw, rubber, concrete, spring, crystal, circuitry, cork and nuclear material.

In regards to the weapon mods, I've been wondering if the enemies that use weapons will spawn with premodded weapons or just straight up base weapons. It could give a lot of variety to enemies if their weapon loadouts were randomized.

Hopefully I can pawn that ASAP!
I think it would make for more interesting encounters. Is that pipe rifle automatic or semiautomatic? Does that plasma rifle function as a shotgun or is better suited to longer ranges? I'm thinking a little VATS recon would be crucial to planning how to take down an enemy strong hold.

I certainly hope weapons mods aren't limited to the pc, that would make it dull. I want the same weapons I'm using against my enemies, to also be used against me, it's more challenging that way. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that's going to be too much of a challenge for some players, and weapons mods for NPC's will be limited at best, at worst, nonexistent.

In the Xbox footage the pc takes a weapon off a raider that had a scope mod attached.

Let's all take a second to appreciate that this outspoken individual has Syd Barrett, the genius that began Pink Floyd, as his profile picture. Thank you sir for your contributions to these forums.

I did notice a few other small things in the artwork. There are 2 pictures of seagulls with skin lesions and boils. Maybe this is from radiation or the new plague. I know in Van Buren animals could be infected. Then you have the locals at Point Lookout in 3 that have crazy skin conditions. Another painting, the PC has some sort of environmental suite on in the ruins of a city, these seagulls are all around. In this same picture, there is a sign above a building. It's a theater, cant read the whole name but it might be Colonial which would put it just south of Mass. General Hospital. Maybe plague victims descendants live here like in PL. Just on a side note, in the PC's inventory, I noticed "Toy Alien" listed under teddy bear. Looks like aliens are indeed in the game. :bonk:

Yes but Syd had hardly a hand in it after succumbing to his illness, he barely had a hand in the second album at all. And no I don't think he deserves credit for Wish You Were Here.

I wish Rick Wright got half as much praise as Syd does, but noooooo.

I'm pretty sure it's going to serve a function, much like the Amulet of Mara, of allowing you to control romance options. Keeping it on/active will probably turn off romance dialogue.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm hoping that's the case anyway, as I've no interest in romance in a Fallout game.

I don't like the new Yao Guai. The old ones looked more scary, yet more cuddly.

I'd rather just put up with or ignore the romance dialogue and get muh capz!

The new one looks almost like a normal Grizzly bear to me. The ones in F3 definitely had a more heavily mutated look IMO. Not sure if I like it or not, I'll have to wait until I see them in game.

In case that after 200 years someone still knows or cares about wedding habbits and traditions.

For all we know, the people maybe prefer a handfull of bullets as offer ...

Well there was that one wedding in Rivet City. Kind of miffed that I couldn't offer my services as Vault Chaplain. I mean come on, it was literally my job for the last 3 years.

There seems to be an implied variation of enemies within a single species or creature type from the enemies we've seen so far, IE Raider scum, Synth Assaulter, etc.

Perhaps we will see both Grizzlies and Black bears, both with a different look? That would be cool!

Either way, I kinda like the new look of them. Partially because I had a Yao Guai Companion mod and after being around one long enough it just looks Nasty. Not even the good kind of nasty either. Just my personal preference though!

Oh yeah the F3 Yao Guai were definitely gross looking. That would be cool if there were different types of Yao Guai. Hell, Skyrim had 3 different kinds of bear.

*edit* I've had a thought. A unique white Yao Guai from the northern part of the map named "Uddy"!
