Another Orsinium?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 8:05 pm

I was making a new Orsimer character, and I noticed Hadvir tells me my remains will returned to Orsinium.

I believed it was destroyed early Fourth Era. So, is there a new one, or was it just something the developers accidentally let slip by?

Vivat Orsinium!
Orsinium will be rebuilt, just to be destroyed again... and again... and again

It's been destroyed a couple of times that we know of, the Orcs are just good about getting it rebuilt. Alternatively, Orsinium could just be a geographical area rather than a defined political state.

Orsinium was restored at some point by a prophet named Gortwog gro-Nagorm. So far, he's kept the city afloat and is applying for province-hood, though his worship of Trinimac as the true ancestor-god of the Pariah Folk in place of the traditional Malacath whom he sees as a false demon, has caused a diaspora amongst the orcs, leading to the creation of the strongholds.

Edit: this is all from the two wikis and the Imperial Library which isn't always up to date, so take it with a grain of salt. The above happened in 399 TE, it's all probably done away with now.

It is, it was destroyed early Fourth Era. That's what I'm wondering, was there another built by the time of Skyrim?

Unless if something happened to Gortwog gro-Nagorm, it should still be around but the details are sketchy. So far, it all points to the religious schism between the Orcs with Orsinium mentioned in-game. So if I had to guess, it's still around. Skyrim is set two-hundred years into the Fourth Era. That's plenty of time for a city to be found and grown.

Is it just me, or is Orsinium the Tamriel version of Camelot?

It was sacked during the events of the novel, Lord of Souls.

This ^^

It tells you on one of the load screens during Skyrim. I think I read someone else's post on a previous thread mentioning that after the old Orsinium was destroyed, it was the Imperial legion that gave them safe passage and helped them to the new location.

I'm thinking it will be a possible future DLC for Skyrim as there is a large area misted over on the Skyrim map where this could be. The other area is to the east of Windhelm which could be Solstheim of the Dunmer & the Skaal Nords.

Is it just me, or is Orsinium the Tamriel version of Camelot?

Was Camelot destroyed and rebuilt? I don't recall that. I think if there was a Camelot in Tamriel then it'll be in High Rock as that is the more Celtic influenced realm of Tamriel. Maybe the Direnni / Adamantine Tower as that is like a large castle. Daggerfall and Wayrest are cities so they wouldn't be.

"Orcs, also known as Orsimer, are natives of Orsinium, a small mountain kingdom between Hammerfell and Skyrim. It has been sacked and rebuilt many times."

No, during Lord of Souls we were told about it by an advlt character who had witnessed the sack as a child. So it happened at least a decade or two before Lord of Souls.
