ANOTHER tommy-gun thread

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 8:00 pm

today, i watched a interview/gameplay video of vault 22, and in it the PC pulled out a 9mm, and put some atachements on it, one of wich was a round-drum magazine, much like a tommys. so that leaves me with 2 speculations:
1. the Tommy gun is IN the game, and they used its drum model for a few other guns
OR
2. Obsidian added the drum to the 9mm in an attempt to appease fans becuase they DIDNT put the tommy in.
what are y'alls thoughts on this?

I think it's been pretty much confirmed at this point that Tommy Guns aren't in the game. Ah well. There's always DLC...

Nah. In FO3 there was Sydney's 10mm Ultra SMG - it had 50 rounds per magazine. :gun:

I hope some bigger dev announces it so less people ask about it. The strategy guide post wasn't a huge thing a lot of people read.

Just wait for the inevitable port of 20th Century Weapons and you can have a Tommy that has any combination of:

Semi-auto
Full-auto
Box mag
Drum mag

What is the point in not adding a gun that everyone wants or sure as heck wouldn't complain about having in this game over gun's like the .22 SMG . . ?

And the guy who leaked the info does he even know the other names for a Tommy Gun? I mean maybe it's not even called a Tommy Gun at all. Id say there is like a %2 chance lol at this point of it being in the game.

As DLC I would say no chance, if they were going to add the gun at all they would have done it. Instead we have a .22 POS SMG that does not replace a Tommy Gun.

They should add Thompson into New Vegas, and then make it as effective as the Chinese Pistol in Fallout 3, just to make the people who wouldnt shut the [censored] up about it happy and say "Well you said you wanted it in the game, you never said how powerful you wanted it." Best troll move ever.

I honestly don't see why a tommy gun is so special. It's fallout ffs, not COD. We need flaming laser potato guns abound.

Not adding a Tommy Gun in New Vegas is about like not adding a Tommy Gun in the game Mafia or Mafia II.

That about sum's it up

I don't think there's a tommy gun as of now, but there is the Laser RCW, which is like a tommy gun that shoots lasers, and that to me is almost as cool.

he said there are no Thompsons or Brownings .

i am actually surprised it wasn't included. i would be even more surprised if it isn't eventually included in a DLC

Well, there most certainly are Brownings, just look no further than the 9mm pistol, a Browning Hi-Power.

But he meant there's no Browning M2... The AMR is the only weapon that uses .50MG

The thompson could have been called anything or use any round, so who knows? I'd say for now it's tentatively confirmed not to be in the game.

Im not all that surprised. Thompsons are more associated with Chicago and East Coast mobsters. Vegas was never openly using machine guns like they did, as far as I've ever seen, most Vegas mobsters had pistols and shotguns/sawn off shotguns.

Maybe there saving for a already planned DLC to make us wait for it.

I could see it as a must if Fallout one day took place in Chicago or New York, but its not needed in a Vegas setting. Hopefully we go to Chicago one day, I used to live there and all my family does. :) Again, hope and pray for it in a Future DLC.

Not if you can barely damage the enemy you're shooting at due to a high damage threshold.

he said there are no Thompsons or Brownings.

To be fair if it WAS in in the game, it would probably be given a stupid generic name istead of its actual name anyway...

Though it does strike me as odd that they didn't add it, considering how many people clearly wanted it and that it would fit pretty well with the game. And they've added other real guns to it, or at least, guns that LOOK exactly like real guns but for some mysterious reason are referred to by generic names like "assault rifle", so I do wonder why they didn't add a Tommy Gun. I do hope that they're not going to just add it in a DLC, though, if they're going to put such a demanded weapon in the game, it should be in it from the start, not added later as a DLC, oh well, I'm quite certain that someone will make a mod that adds it eventually. The only problem with that is that the quality of mods can very a lot, and the end result could be anything from a lot better looking than anything Obsidian would have made to something that would have looked more at home in the original Half-Life than any modern game, whereas with things designed by the developers, we can usually expect a consistent standard in quality.
