Another Windows 7 64 user issue

Post » Sat Nov 09, 2013 2:13 pm

Installed from CD as admin to a non UAC directory.

Gave all .EXE files elevated access to run.

Ran all files in all useful compatibility modes.

Disabled Aero.

Turned off other monitor.

Did INI modifications listed here for threading.

Re-installed with the .NET framework removed from add-remove programs.

Ran in windowed mode.

Ran with low settings.

Installed newest GFWL files.

Used dll trick (d3d9) in FO3 directory.

Re-installed DX 9.

Re-installed DX 11 with all updates.

Installed a CODEC manager and noticed Fallout3.EXE was already noted.

Installed game under safe mode.

Disabled shader usage from INI file.

Ran Fallout 3 configurator with countless settings.

Ran Fallout3.EXE file directly.

Ran Launcher without FOMM.

Ran game with no mods.

All drivers, firmware, and software up to date.

Nvidia control center disabled from forcing 3D actions.

The game installed ok. The game ran OK until the player gets a warning and combat begins. From there it would crash every two minutes or so. I have tried all of the above fixes that I have read about on the Internet. I read extensively in Win7 forums through 67 pages, and countless other sites. There is nothing I can do to get this thing working. Are there any more fixes that I can add to the list of things I have tried? I will try them as well and see what can be done.

My specs--

Asus Essentio OEM (mostly)

Win 7 64 Bit

PNY Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 (1 GB probably)

8 Gig RAM

Some generic AMD Quad Core processor

Turning off a monitor means absolutely nothing for the computer. It will still pump out display data for it. You have to physically disconnect it in order for your computer to stop processing the data for it.

Installing DX9 then 11 is redundant. The lastest DX version has everything from that point and back, so Installing DX11 did absolutely nothing because you already ran the DX9.

First comment is incorrect.

Second one I did because some other people claimed it worked for them. I suppose what I said could appear unclear though, I tried running it with only DX9 and later back to DX11 (and fully updated if it wasn't already before I tried the game the first time).
