Some maps are better than others for stomping, Skyline was not my best stomping map despite the fact that it seems tailor made for it, i remember getting plenty on evac, downed bird, city hall and wall street. On most maps there are elevated positions overlooking almost all the crash sites.
Here's another tip:
Getting a nice big lead at the start of a crash site match is a good strategy, because for the rest of the match the enemy team has to rush to the crash site to stop from losing. Then you can afford to let them take the crash site for a few seconds and then stomp the most likely areas for someone to defend the site (if you can't see them). You can stomp and kill everyone and then go back to you overwatch spot (or a different one if there is one) and wait for them to come back and repeat. You can rack up stomps quickly this way if you are winning, stomping form a losing position is much less rewarding. So don't start stomping right at the start of the match, get that lead first and make the enemy team make themselves vulnerable in the site.
The no falling damage upgrade is useful, if you fall you never have to go through the armour mode hand touching the ground animation, but the third upgrade, the faster recovery, is not that helpful. If you miss you may still have time to kill the guy before he kills you (if he's crap) but a good player still has plenty of time to kill you if u miss the stomp
