Ant tricks to air stomp?

Post » Thu Dec 06, 2012 4:27 am

Been playing a long time now and have only got to the 1st level upgrade once(50 kills) and give up cause I usually die way to much. Is there any tips out there for succesfully doing better with air stomp. Usually don't roll with it until all other achievements are done
Thank

Crash site, and high places, unusual high places eg top of street lights or statues where people won't expect you

I tried crash site thinking it would e easy cause they are all in one spot, but didnt have much luck. Got most of mine hanging out on buildings in skyline but am wondering if there is an easier way. Maybe I'll try crash site again tho it's been a while.

I don't think there are any tricks to it - as Sunny said, take high-routes. ...I sometimes randomly stomp choke points ~ although it gets you killed more than kills :-)

It's a very opportunist suit-mod; love it, have it on nearly all my classes ~ I re-boot at 50 but usually have 120-140 kills with it by then.

Thanks for the replies guys. I leveled up everything except that. I got 50 kills but probably died an extra 100 times from missing or whatever. Got All other achievements last time except that. This time I am gonna try getting all air stomps too

I started using Air Stomp today. 9 kills with it in a round, pretty happy about it.
You just need to be a little higher than your opponent before you air stomp, like on a short rail or something, and you can OHKO them.

It's not hard to kill a stealthed enemy with it, too. All-in-all, It's a fine module for my armor slot.

Did manage to get 2 kills on evac, spent most of a round on rooftops. Tried on skyline and 0 kills and about 3-4 deaths from missing

Some maps are better than others for stomping, Skyline was not my best stomping map despite the fact that it seems tailor made for it, i remember getting plenty on evac, downed bird, city hall and wall street. On most maps there are elevated positions overlooking almost all the crash sites.

Here's another tip:

Getting a nice big lead at the start of a crash site match is a good strategy, because for the rest of the match the enemy team has to rush to the crash site to stop from losing. Then you can afford to let them take the crash site for a few seconds and then stomp the most likely areas for someone to defend the site (if you can't see them). You can stomp and kill everyone and then go back to you overwatch spot (or a different one if there is one) and wait for them to come back and repeat. You can rack up stomps quickly this way if you are winning, stomping form a losing position is much less rewarding. So don't start stomping right at the start of the match, get that lead first and make the enemy team make themselves vulnerable in the site.

The no falling damage upgrade is useful, if you fall you never have to go through the armour mode hand touching the ground animation, but the third upgrade, the faster recovery, is not that helpful. If you miss you may still have time to kill the guy before he kills you (if he's crap) but a good player still has plenty of time to kill you if u miss the stomp

Great topic!
I seriously started to give some attention to this module since this week (just after my second reboot). Before that I considered it to be too inefficient, but that's maybe me just being clumsy with it.

I have the best result for air stomp on the maps Skyline and Wall Street. City Hall does not give me the opportunities that I am seeking for, but that might be game dependent.
I have equipped one class with air stomp and will use it more often in the future, for fun's sake haha

Also, in Team Instant Action, it usually feels more like Instant Action, with your teammates running around all over the map, rather than real team co?rdinated hunting. So the advantage of air stomp, with at least one teammate covering your back, is pretty much inexistent, unless you can play with clan members who know the drill.

@ Pie: Keep us updated on your experiences with air stomp mate

Got Air Stomp II a couple hours ago. But then I took a break so I can't say anything about how useful the upgrade is yet.

So from what I've gathered from using it, Air Stomp does damage in a circular area around the spot you land in. The damage is relative to how high you jump from, not the height you start the air stomp from. The area of effect is also pretty large, so if you jump from high enough, you can get kills from enemies who are decently-far away.

The damage is most powerful directly in front of where you land. If you want a good stomp kill, and you're not jumping from very high above your target, you'll have to land with your target in front of you.

Regarding damage when jumping from the same level as your target, you will NEVER get a kill at this height, you must be a minimum of 1.5x the target's height and power jump to have air stomp kill with one shot. You must be facing the target on landing if he's in armor or tactical(normal) mode, and just land nearby if he's in cloak.

Got two double kills and a triple kill using air stomp in my last match. Will give info on how useful the second level of the module is asap.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I want to add one little thing, I was Air stomp killed a few days back while in mid air. Actually I was power jumping when an Air stomper hit the ground, very close to where I jumped. He landed while I was in the air (I was not cloacked and didn't have armor) and I died, mid air. So Air stomp seems to be efficient in some sort of sphere around the landing zone, rather than only on the ground. Also he jumped from pretty high.

I don't think this was a glitch

You're right, it's a sphere around it. I got a couple dead air kills with air stomp too, shoulda mentioned that. Normally, the damage done on the area besides what's directly in front of the player stomping is pretty low, but if you jump from a high place, as you experienced, anything nearby will be destroyed. Most people think it's powerful when jumping from ground-level, which is why it's s underused.

I've noticed when you get a few stomp-kills in a game - the next game other players start using it. Hope people do start using it, it's a great mod.

I'm level 2; always rebooted just before level 3 - but saw some footage on YouTube ~ level 3 recovery looks quite quick.

I'm really liking air stomp, always playing Skyline with it, fun as hell! You can bet I'll have it at level III before my next reboot.

Didn't you already have all your reboots?
I am stopping the reboot thing, I would like to keep my modules in good shape for once haha, I'm also maxing out air stomp, mostly in skyline, it is a blast to use it, I totally agree

I'm actually on my 4th reboot, but I'm level 40, so it won't be long until I'm finally on the 5th. At first, I was only going for the 4th for the GAUSS camo, but after some thought, I decided: Since I'm so close to getting all the camos and the dog tag, why not, right?

By the way, I'm in love with the GAUSS camo. It's Urban Camouflage(Military pattern with white, grey, and black). The camo covers most of the sides and runs along a line in the middle of the barrel. There's also this horizontal red line that runs from the shoulder brace to the grip for your hand. It makes the gun look so much better. Given that it already looked beast without the camo.

Yeah. Up to 25 now haha, few on evac a little while ago. Going a lot smoother this time. Last reboot it took forever, but this time using it in certain spots.

Yup - I try to use this mod on Skyline, or against any not as good players. I also use Covert Ops and mobilty enhance to make sure I dont lose energy in being in stealth and can move around quicker without draining energy. On 22 kills now :)
