Antagonists you relate to.. : Othor Games

A well written story (be it from a Novel, Game, Movie, TV Show, etc) can captivate a persons mind and Imagination, and leave a lasting impression on the viewer for years to come...
One common Method writers use is write a protagonist in a way that they feel the target audience can relate to in some form or another..

But what about the Antagonists?
usually an Antagonist takes the role of the Villain in the story, as such is usually cast in a bad light...

But then at times you run into an Antagonist that is so well written, so fleshed out, with such an amazing backstory, you can actually relate to them and see how in a way their goals may be justified...

So, who is an Antagonist you can relate with and why?

I strongly Relate with Mithos Yggdrasill.. I had a very tough Childhood, and granted while no where near as bad is Mithos'. I know exactly what it feels like to feel the world is against you, that no matter how hard you try to do good, you are shunned simply because of the way you were born..
I also know what it feels like to lose the only person you feel is on your side..

as such, I can Understand why Mithos did what he did.. Wanting to bring the only person who showed him kindness back.. and I can see why he wanted his age of lifeless beings, as I have often thought that maybe if everyone was the same, we would not have discrimination..

So, what Antagonist can you relate with?

I think most everyone can related to Lex Luthor on some level. Who hasn't thought about the possibility of Superman going bad and wreaking havoc on the world? Who hasn't wanted a human, like Batman for example, to be able to knock him down a peg? I can totally understand the fear Lex would have of these possibilities and the extremes he might go to, just to be able to protect the rest of humanity.

Depending on your perspectives of 'antagonist', I do appreciate Sander Cohen's madness and feel pity for him. I also relate a lot to the personality of Michael De Santa in GTA V.

While I never choose that option, he CAN be made an antagonist in the end of the game, so I suppose TECHNICALLY he can count. Otherwise he's more an anti-hero than antagonist, but whatever.

Dark Souls - Gwyn, Lord of Cinder. He is probably not considered to be "the bad guy", but he is an antagonist to the Chosen Undead, the protagonist. With Gwyn, he sacrificed just about everything, including himself, to preserve what he felt was right and good.

Bastion - Zulf. He tried to champion peace and unity between his people, the Ura, and the other group of people, the Celondians, even going as far as to adopt a very Celondian lifestyle and was about to marry a Celondian woman. For years, he preached to the Ura to drop all hatred towards Celondia, and likewise, tried to do the same with the Celondians with the Ura. But after reading what had caused the Calamity, he became understandably pissed, as Celondia was about to commit genocide on the Ura, but it backfired and caused the Apocalypse.

The Witcher 2 - Letho. He just wants to restore the Witcher group in his land. He was no true enemy of mine, and at the end, as I've done for all my playthroughs, I told him he is not my enemy and just walked away.

Castlevania Lords Of Shadow: Dracula. You play as him, but he's considered a villain Protagonist, and his fall from grace is intensely tragic (betrayed by everyone one, including his wife) and forced to kill his son (who he didn't even know was his son at the time, and when found out, bucket of tears) More so due to it being god's fault for his fault, so I can see why he wants to destroy him and everyone else.
