Anti Undead Magic?

Post » Thu Jan 29, 2015 11:33 pm

Hi

I've always been more of a Battlemage with a Mace in my right hand and a destruction spell in my left. I have never used the Restoration spells versus the undead as most of them seem to make them flee, rather than do damage and I would rather kill them where they stand. However i am now doing the Dawnguard Expansion for the first time and have 3 new spells Stendars Aura, Vampires Bane and Sunfire and thought I'd give them a go. I have to say unless I am doing something wrong, I am seeing little to no damage with them versus the undead compared to my destruction spells. Are they bugged?

The spells you are referring to are Restoration spells, so they do not benefit from any of the +Damage Destruction perks. Therefore, at higher levels, it will appear as if you aren't doing much damage to them because they do not scale. Now, a Fortify Restoration potion should increase the damage, but don't quote me on that.

Don't forget to grab necromage when you can.

Like any spell, that school has to be leveled up. My last character to run through DG, used Stendars Aura and wiped the floor with vamps. Just that and Dawn breaker at lvl 39. Well and Marcurio...lol

Less damage as destruction but gives you an option to level restoration via blasting undead with missile spells.

This. If you want to do actual damage with spells, stick with Destruction. Besides, Restoration's only good for healing.
