@OP: I've played a few Argonians, hell, my main was an Argonian, but always had difficulty roleplaying them. No idea why.

The whole Hist hivemind thing has made me kind of apprehensive about playing Argonians, but unless they were born in Black Marsh they are independent mentally.

Heheh.
You Dark Elves had been enslaving the lizards for the longest time, it was about time it came to bite you back in the behind.
Karma, karma!

You call the grey-quarter and that wasteland known as Solstheim prevailing?
Hah! Funny that both have been given to you by other races.

Where would you be if not for the pity of others?

To the Dunmer fans... Technically, its the Hist Trees you want to kill. Those trees controlled the Argonians and had them attack Southern Morrowind.

I personally not a huge fan of the Hist Trees, especially after reading the books... Heck! I want to play a game in Black Marsh and the main quest being about the Hist Trees and stopping the whole corruption thing they have going on... As much I hate to say, I do think those trees are highly corrupted and I think Argonians shouldn't be connected to them anymore.

there are a few dark elves in Vvardenfell still and i dont think they are getting that part of morrowind back with the telvanni and Hlaulu(butchered spelling /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />) just about gone, house redoran can only support itself, the dunmer arn't looking to good right now. Im glad the other races are helping them(barely) but what i dont understand is why people like him want the dunmer to kill every argonian they can find, i think its because they cant do anything about their situation so they try to prove themselves or some stupid things "every argonian will suffer for what they did lolol :3" "why dont you try to help yourself first son"

Yep, they only use the Argonians to protect themselves and for their own interests. They were perfectly happy to let the Argonians be enslaved, but as soon as Daedra are pouring into their groves they sacrifice thousands of Argonians into Oblivion to save themselves.

he has a point you know, the dunmer showed no mercy for the argonians so why do the argonians show mercy for the dunmer? i think the dunmer deserve mercy because they are a powerful race when they aren't backed into a corner, and if the argonians helped them they would be very powerful allies (like scorpion and sub zero)

"to oblivion and back they say" when the hist controlled the argonians they sent in legions of argonians and almost all of them made it back out alive, while closing all of the gates and sending the daedra back home with their tails betwwen their legs.

I can't imagine they didn't take some kind of losses, in any case, the Hisrt haven't ever acted in the Argonians interests. the Hist's military strategising is basically throw Argonians at the problem until you win.

Besides, not even Tiber Septim himself could conquer Black Marsh when he was at his prime due to it's landscape, plagues, flesh-eating bugs , and tribes. He only managed to make the province join his Empire through a treaty.
A weakened race such as the Dunmer would have literally no chance at invading Black Marsh.

There are various stronger sub-species of argonians as well that haven't showed up in games yet due to being mostly tribal, including giants, and winged ones.

Isn't there? I thought licking the Hist gave the Hist power over the Argonians, and that Argonians born abroad who hadn't licked the Hist existed without the Hist. In any case, the only reason Argonian society is built around the Hist is because the Hist are their religious/political leaders, which prevents them from building an independent system.

Ehh...no. The Saxhleel are, pretty much, Hist, only in humanoid form to act as mobile Hist. They're not an independent people who went to worship and lick them; they are the Hist. And if you paid attention to the dialog in Oblivion, Saxhleel from other lands were recalled to Black Marsh to prepare for the impending Oblivion Crisis.

I also suggest you search for the dialog of the Saxhleel bartender in TESA: Redguard, who provides some good insight, along with dev quotes, and the TES books.

On my fifth playthrough and decided to do two things I haven't done before:

1. Play an Argonian
2. Join the Stormcloak rebellion.

I am growing quickly attached to young Quinn as he makes his way through the various holds. His young, trusting soul tried to further the Stormcloak's cause by attempting to double cross the bastard Thalmor agent inside Understone Keep. When asked to retrieve someones Talos amulet and turn it in, he tried to go another route but was stymied at every corner. He made the long walk out of Markarth with sorrow on his heart and revenge boiling in his brain.

Hence the slave race theme, hivemind. Any reccomendations of paticular books that refer to the Argonians as humanoid Hist and not just a slave race of the Hist? Either way there is little difference between a worker ant that is willingly a part of the hivemind or not.
