Any chance that power armor will be customizable?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 5:44 am

I was thinking back to the E3 presentation and wondering if they'd said anything about customizing power armor? I know they may want to keep the classic power armor look identifiable with the Fallout universe but I'd love if we could use custom paint jobs at least if can't change the type of armor.

Any hints to this
this?

Yes the E3 video went into a good deal of depth on this subject.

This. What a strange post, considering you watched the E3 presentation.

Looks like every part (head, shoulder, arm, legs, chest) is customizable. There's at least one piece that had some kind of decal on it, so it's possible that we'll be able to give it a paint job?

Yep.. at least you'll be able to cobble together different pieces from other sets of power armor. I have no idea if you can paint it or put bumper stickers on it though. If so, I'm covering mine with nuka cola labels. Camouflage... they'll just think I'm a nuka cola machine.

Well, I suppose I was only partially watching then. I remember being at work that day and watching on my break.

For your reference, it was the same segment where they highlight the weapon crafting, I believe.

Pretty sure they showed off customizing the power armor at E3.

Yup. Also, the jetpack that lets you temporarily fly/glide appears to be a mod you can have on your armor or not, depending.

Yes. You can customize the following parts of power armor, all separately:

Left Leg

Right Leg

Left Arm

Right Arm

Torso

Helmet

With each item, you can have a 'base item' (like a T-51 torso or a T-47 torso), as well as the 'model series' (so you can turn a T-51 into a T-51a or T-51b), the material (both paint options and ones that are useful - the ones we know about are 'basic', 'atom cat paint' {which increases agility for some reason}, 'vault tec paint' and 'military paint' {which increases strength} as well as 'lead plating' and 'explosive shielding'), and a 'miscellaneous mod' slot. Helmets also have a slot that's typically fitted with a headlamp, and some torsos have an extra slot (the X-01 power armor torso, which is the classic Fallout 2 Advanced Power Armor, has a 'Standard Torso Lining' mod in addition to the other slots).

I was thinking about making a mod for some custom power armor. ;-)
