Any city you don′t want to vist?

Post » Fri Jul 09, 2010 5:48 am

Bravil. It seems so ...dirty. The buildings look quite hastily built up (no stone structures apart from the castle and chapel), it reminds of a slum. Also the region around the city is quite offputting, the area i've explored the least. Leyawiin is a nicer place, but the marshlands environment i still don't like.

Anvil is my favourite, the town itself looks nice, the castle is cutely on it's own island, and Gold Coast is very pretty looking region aswell. Great Forest and Chorrol are also nice.

I don't really go to Bruma. I visit the other cities a lot, but Bruma is just dull. And there's too many Nords.

Probably Bravil, only because it looks rundown and unappealing.

I dislike the following; because;

Lleyawiin - Too poor looking.

Bravil - ""

Bruma - Too cold and unfriendly looking!

Skingrad - Too cramped.

I like all the cities, especially with Better Cities installed!

From a role playing perspective, my least favorite is:

Skinguard. Everyone is such a snot in this city. "What?! You want a tour?!"

From an aesthtic perspective, my least favorite is:

Bruma. As Squirll93 mentioned, Better Cities makes it lag and that log cabin decor doesn't work for me.

Oddly enough, I love Lewyellin. I remember the first time I entered the city - ever. I was like like ... "Wow. Orange houses!" I think the big houses in Lewyellin are simply gorgeous, even nicer than the old Anvil houses. Currently, I'm working on a mod that will give me a house in Leyellin, using one of the old houses. But, yes, it's a bit out of the way.

I love the whole Khajiit VS Argonian VS human races (Especially the countess!) conflict Leyawiin has going on, but other than that I don't find the town very interesting for its looks.

The game needs more politics...

Agreed. The Tribunal and the Houses in Morrowind added SO much more depth to the game.

(One of these days, I have to finish that game.)

I was just wondering, there have been a few threads about favourite cities but what I wanna know, is there one that you really dislike?
Personally I like them all but for some reason I′m not comfortable in Cheydinhal and that surprises me. It′s a nice city but I can′t seem to find peace there. Maybe it′s because of the Dark....oh no :bolt:

Edit: Yes I know I spelled "visit" wrong in the headline

Cheydinhal is kind of snooty, I can see not wanting to go there.

For me, it dedends on the character. The one in my avatar is a freed slave, and also doesn't like Cheydinhal simply because she feels out of place there. But she's a theif so she's liking ripping people off that live there while they sleep just fine! She feels the same about Chorrol too...just a rather uppiy place for the most part. She likes Bruma but doesn't like the cooooold climate. :) I imagine Wanda will love Bravil once she manages to travel that far. since it's sort of run-down and sad.

My other living character (high elf mage) loves the fairytalish towns like Cheydinhal, Skingrad, and Chorrol, but hatees or dislikes the rougher towns (Bruma, Bravil, and Lleyawin).

I'm with the OP. I just can't love Cheydinhal. There's nothing obviously wrong with the place but I never spend much time there, and don't bother much with the inhabitants. Maybe it's because the pubs seem a bit bland.

I also don't like Leyawiin, and I've tried various versions, Vanilla, Better Cities, Open and Leyawiin reborn. Obviously the bad weather doesn't help but I think the real problem is the architecture. Most of the houses are just too big externally, making thr pace feel spread out and empty. I think Bethesda dropped the ball badly on Leyawiin, it should be a thriving multicultural trading city given its strategic position at the mouth of the Niben. It should be full of exotic characters from all over Tamriel and beyond, gold, spices, blood, intrigue, poverty and quick death. The Byzantium/Constantinopl of Cyrodiil.

Bravil I love. With Better Cities it becomes huge, especially with all the stuff outside the walls. It has real character.

My problem with Anvil is regarding Lelles′ Quality Merchandise. They say that he has exotic items not available even in Imperial City thanks to all the ships that come in. But if you go to check you′ll find out he has just the same stuff as everyone else :shakehead:

Well as many people have said, Leyawin its just too far out of the way for casual use. Also Kvatch is a no-go after all a burning mess is quite depressing no?

Hackdirt, I know it is not a city but I dont go there any more,
Spoiler
when Dar-Ma(?) gets capturred I hope she escapes by herself.

Well at least Hackdirt is interesting and has a back story, which is more then can be said of most of the '3 houses plonked in the wilderness' small settlements. How utterly useless are Pells Gate and Blankenmarsh?

Pells gate got the dadric quest added to it so I suppose thats got something and you learn about Umbra and that. I cant remember the other one, just got back to Oblivion, its not the one with the warrior who lost his wife or something? Not the one who got stolen by goblins.

Pells Gate useless? I beg to differ! Free lodging. There's also a wide array of potions to buy from the innkeeper, which have saved me the trouble of having to go to a real city more times than I can count (I don't fast travel).

Blankenmarch was probably associated with a quest in the Ayleid ruin Veyond containing Azhklan Trolls, before it got cancelled

I'm not a fan of Anvil, to be honest. I don't really like the architecture, and it's a bit too out of the way for me.

Cheydinhal is actually one of my favorite cities, with Bruma a close second.
