Just one question guys are there any disadvantages upon completion of the Power of the Atom early in the game?

Thought I might just ask :)

Thanks

No not really.

If you like Luxury, side with Burke

If you like accessability and conviency, side with Megaton. I find Megatons hosue bigger and cozier personally.

No, actually its much better to complete that quest earlier on in the game.

You don't want to be running around with too much weight, and it makes the game feel much more comfortable. BTW you do know there are 2 different safe-houses depending on how you do that quest right? Only 1 can be achieved.

If Lucas Simms Died (I let Burke kill him before Killing Burke) will it affect the game in any way?

I believe it means you'll not get access to the Megaton Home should you decide to

Spoiler
disarm the bomb

Not really. No quests are associated with him, so that's not a problem.

I'm not sure, but it's definitely possible, as you get the key from him.

It doesn't matter if Simms dies; his son will give you the key to your Megaton house and you can still get the Stength Bobblehead from Lucas's pad. What's better, you get a snazzy duster and his hat :D.

Nope. Best you get your house all set up before you really get into things. (ETC. Get your theme down, Put stuff you dont use into the desks and safes.)

Terrible quest. No challenge, absurd reward.

Be better if clearing Springvale school earned you a private room in the Common house, turning in Burke earned you his little hovel and eventually disarming the bomb (with great effort) earned you the big house.

Or you could take Burke's offer and get the Suite fairly early.

Only disadvantage I see is that if you instead decided to arm the bomb; you won't be able to pick up the Bobblehead in Simms house, if you hadn't already.

Otherwise, everyone in Megaton is dead, except a certain someone. So you can't hand in Scrap Metal to Walter. But otherwise, both quests associated with Megaton can still be done. Blood Ties and Wasteland Survival Guide.

Another potential disadvantage is if you're a Slaver, you've instantly gotten rid of a large population of the game, thus decreasing people you can enslave easily.

It's a shame with how greedy TPT is, you can't just buy a suite for 2-3k

You can't use this against TPT, really. It's to balance out the game -- what would really be the point of blowing up Megaton if you could buy the suite later?

I see where you're coming from and understand your point, but you just can't do something like that.

The same could be said about Simms. You could've bought that shack off of em for a couple caps.

Eh, it doesnt matter either way. usually I just cross my fingers and hope each playthrough the suite door bugs and I get a free suite AND Megaton as my home

Well, if you pick the locks, and sneak your way into the Penthouse level, you can sneak onto the balcony. The balcony entrance to the tower suite can be opened.

It will be empty, no themes or whatever, but at-least its some free space.

This. So this. The lame story they came up with so that there can only be one player house or the other is a total fail IMO. It would have fit better with his character that we could purchase it. The Burke part was fine and Tenpenny is fine, but having Burke work for Tenpenny is where it all falls apart. Tenpenny's reasoning for destroying Megaton it is never convincing as far as I'm concerned.

@plankationship - There's no disadvantage to rushing ahead and getting the house, but you don't need to rush to get it either. If you don't want to put any points into Explosives or whatever you can go dump all of your extra gear into the Nuka Cola machine in Springvale, for example, until you are ready to do the quest. I just give you that container as an example. I used to dump my stuff there a lot until I would do the quest and then move into the house, but some people go and live in Minefield or wherever instead of the official houses.

Edit: @Holy Assassin - I've snuck into the suite and gotten locked in and had to reload a previous save. I'm not sure I'd trust it as a permanent residence that way. I could never get it to work cheating it on the 360.

In that case, I guess it's safer not to even go in. Did it have a bed and the general storage that an empty Suite has?

It looked like it usually does when you get it the legitimate way I just couldn't get out again. Ack! That was after trying to get in on a couple of characters after hearing you could. I was very unlucky with that exploit.

I think it would be cool if you could unlock a free pad in several places, complete with Well-Rested bonus. Possible ways:

Rivet City: Complete "Those!" and deliver Bryan Wilks safely to Vera Weatherly, Reward: Free access to unused hotel room.
Megaton: Disarm the bomb. Reward: Megaton House.
Tenpenny Tower: Eliminate Roy Phillips and his army of ferals. Reward: Tenpenny Suite.
Paradise Falls: Complete "Strictly Business". Reward: Private room in Slaver barracks.
Little Lamplight: Complete "Rescue From Paradise". Reward: Bunk in Lamplight Office Building. (yes, you clould do this without angering the slavers and losing your Paradise Falls digs, just buy the kids' freedom for 1200 caps).
Others: ?????

I use the blown up building opposite the Central Library in DC. It has a bed and loads of storage, plus traps. It's a good place if you like to roleplay loner survival types, plus you get to sleep under the stars as it has no roof. You also get some good views out of the windows. I like to lay down loads of mines and take pot-shots out of the windows with my sniper rifle.
