any floating castles in skyrim?

I hope there's a floating castle/dungeon. Not really expecting to see one in the un-modded game though.

As long as they're not overdone.

One floating thing would be nice, since it makes things a bit more interesting. But that's it. Don't overdo it.
(Just think of the Ministry of Truth, it was pretty amazing and interesting to see it the first time you saw it, wasn't it?)

Unrealistic? In a fantasty RPG that has magick, elves, goblins, werewolves & vampires just to name a few. You're concerned about realism? Right.
Anyway, floating cities are already a part of TES lore.

I'm gonna give lich freak the benefit of the doubt and assume they meant unrealistic within the world's rules (assuming they didn't know they existed already). After all, a floating city is a lot of rock, requiring a lot of power, assuming magicka is used it would require some seriously potent magickers to do it. So it is sort of unrealistic, except it's happened.

I wouldn't want to see millions and would be ambivalent about one or two. If they did exist, make them amazing, give them deep lore and story, make them a true spectacle. Otherwise, I don't really want them there.

I can see it in Morrowind or something, but not in Skyrim.

It seems too nitty gritty for floating cities and stuff.

I hope there is a floating something in Skyrim...a floating wizard tower located high up in the clouds.

Once it was home to an evil necromancer who would screw with his prisoners by letting them "escape" from the dungens only to get outside and realize the only way out is down, way down! One day a prisoner, who the necromancer did not know was actually an arena champion overpowered him and tossed him over the edge...falling to his death! Unfortunatly without his magic there was no way to re-open the door to the ground so the champion was left to age and die alone in the floating tower...and his ghost waits to test anyone who might try and claim it for themselves to make sure they are true of heart.

I wouldn't expect to see one, but it would be a pretty cool sight :)

Please, NO floating rocks/cities/whatever! The only thing these things have been doing in TES is destroying my precious province, Morrowind! Umbriel did, the Ministry of Truth did. So, let's ban these abominations of nature and keep whatever is left what once was the greatest of all provinces!

It's written into lore you can't exactly ban it lol. I'm all for it would be something new and different for the elders scrolls instead of returning to the daedra, morrowinds changed now :\

It was headed from Vivec to the Imperial City, so it probably wouldn't end up in Skyrim. Maybe it could make a cool expansion though, assuming it doesn't get blown up in the next book.

I think its more than likely Divayth Fyr survived the sundering of Vvardenfell.

Wouldnt it be fantastic to find his island, complete with Telvanni tower, floating somewhere in Skyrim?
He couldve gone to Skyrim to study Dwemer that arent from Morrowind.

I can see it now. "Yagrum, set sail for Winterhold! Were low on brandy."

That's a nice idea! Divayth Fyr should have survived (and Yagrum too), I really like the idea of at least one person staying alive throughout all TES! I hope he shows up again! Since the dwemer theme is back again in Skyrim, Fyr and Yagrum could be an interesting source to learn even more about that race (and many other things!)

He had two floating rocks to observe during his stay in Morrowind (presuming he was there when Umbriel arrived), so he could've learned the trick to do it himself! Hope he learned how to do it without causing further destruction like the other two...

If it must be, according to lore. I don't see the huge necessity. There'll be enough floating stuff around due to dev mistakes, I presume.

That sounds totally awesome. Be cool to see how much his humble abode has changed over the 200+ years the guys too smart to not putting some sort of defence in place for an emergency... Would be cool if we atleast hear something about him.

Will there ever be a way to get mods over xbox live? I feel like if I connect my PC to my 360 there must be a way. Tech support!

Console gaming = no mods. I'm sorry, I think consoles have their advantages too, but if you want mods you'll have to buy a computer.

(but you never know what the future holds. I think it's extremely hard to do, but maybe someone will find a way to hack a console to make some mods possible. Highly unlikely I would say, but where there's a demand there might be someone who finds a way)

Well Umbriel was a floating city because it was a piece of Oblivion that materialized in Tamriel due to a device that was supposed to open Clavicus' realm but Clavicus' power kept from them being able to leave his realm so it is a very complicated situation where it's part of Oblivion in Tamriel but hasn't really left Oblivion.

While I agree that the huge underground city would be awesome...maybe a safe haven for the werewolves and vamps of Skyrim to hide...floating cities and castles may be unrealistic but they are part of the lore of the elder scrolls, just like elves, goblins, trolls, dragons, magic and all those other "realistic" things we see in real life every day. Isn't that what RPGs are all about, realism?

Actually no, they aren't. There has only been two flying structures ever. The Ministry of Truth, which was held aloft by the god king Vivec and then by the Ingenium that runs on souls. Umbriel was the second, being a city that was brought into Tamriel from Oblivion using an another Ingenium built to free Umbra and the others from Oblivion but it in fact didn't free them from Oblivion. It's not like there are floating structures everywhere, just when they are being held up by gods or a machine created to eat souls and use their power to do the same thing.

If there is to be any floating landmasses, I would prefer it to be hidden or something that wouldn't be widely talked about. A hidden fortress in a scenic valley that only a few people know about seems mystifying. It adds some type of enchanting appeal to it. If it were the talk of the north that everyone knows about, the appeal would diminish. However, it could be something that is only rumoured of (like the city of Gondolin in the Silmarillion would be nice.) All that I require of a floating city is for it to have a certain mystique to it.

Well if they are going to have a flying structure hidden in the game, there has to be a logical explanation as to what empowers it to float. TES may be a fantasy world, but even fantasy worlds have laws of reality and things spontaneously floating without cause isn't one of them hehe.

Actually, I hope we return to Daggerfall in some later game, where the laws of reality are still mismatched and unreliable due to The Warp In The West(A.K.A. Dragon Break). Would be neat to see what happened around those regions after the chaotic occurrence.

Well the laws of reality there are still intact, it was the power of the numidium that created the warp in the west. All of the events never really existed simultaneously, they just occurred simultaneously. Thus the Underking is still alive yet he was destroyed in another time/reality. Same with Mannimarco becoming a god and also being turned into a shell of his former self simultaneously. Same with the kingdoms of the bay region were united by the Numidium but also Orsinium was created even though nothing really was destroyed by the Numidium. It was a one time thing caused by the activation of Numidium that didn't really happen on our plain but in a separate timeline but the result happened in our plain of existence. The warp will never happen again seeing as how the mantella is destroyed and the Numidium is destroyed. Also the heart of lorkhan is destroyed also, so there is no suitable power source even if they piece together the numidium again.

Meh. I can't see Nords having much use for floating cities. Too much risk of falling off the side of it while drunk. That and they aren't the most potent of mages about. Also, in an age where dragons are roaming around destroying things, a floating city would be a rather easy target rather than a safe haven.

I don't think that city would be included, because the main quest is about alduin, save umbriel for the books

In Morrowind M'aiq the liar stated that dragons just flew so high that you could not see them I believe.Since there are dragons in this game the castle they slept in will be in but it is up so high you cant see it.So you win sorta.
