Any Fun Builds?

Post » Mon Aug 22, 2011 7:46 pm

Looking for a game to play, and since I don't really have anything else im thinking of doing another playthrough of FNV.
Im looking for a fun build to keep this playthrough, lets say "interesting".

If someone could give me idea's on builds that they have played on even heard about that'd be great.
If this helps, My other character was just your typical gunner nothing really special about him really :P

Intelligence 1 Powder Ganger. The explosives will be fun, the dialogue will be hilarious.

How about a maxed charisma + maxed speech prankster character that uses only BB gun, Golden Boxing Gloves, Cattle Prod, Boxing Tape, and Compliance Regulator. You basically let your followers do all the work for you while you [censored] around with those weapons.

I think this will be my next play through.

Don't really like using companions, I never have for more than a couple quests and probably never will.
I like to do some things more on my own then with a group.

I don't like have companions neither, but that RP idea I just posted sounds like a blast.

Here's another idea. Roleplay as Conan the Barbarian. Like you've been thrown in time through a wormhole. Make your character look like him, dress like him, eat and talk like him, bash skulls like him.

I did that in Fallout 3, one of the best roleplays I ever had.

I find the game to get boring when you max out a character. Most people, myself included, are completionists. Once you have been through the game enough times and experienced everything. There is no need to be able to do everything in 1 playthrough. No need to pick every lock, hack every terminal or pass every speachckeck.

Think of a character from a movie or book and model your character and playstyle from that. try to limit your character and specialize in a few things. Rather than maxing him/her out. Pick two GOOD traits, that benifit your character or none at all. Taking Logain's Loophole will limit your character, where you can concentrate on just a few specs. Assuming you have all the DLCs, you can couple Skilled with another trait and trade Skilled for Log Loop at level 29. At least you should be able to. I'm currently playing towards that now. I know you can't take it, once you pass level 30.

Logan's Loophole isn't the only way to limit yourself though, having an intelligence of 1 can do it too, as long as you don't mind the occasional humerous dialogue option.

Ah..That might be an opt as well. I've never tried a 1 intel for very long. With the DLCs, what would be average level, when everything is done?

EDIT : When it comes down to it. You can limit yourself, by not using those skills and taking worthless perks.

It's only about 450 points give or take, if you reached all the way to 45 with a 1 intelligence, which really isn't a lot. It's like playing Logan's Loophole, but instead you level up much more slowly and you get more perks and more points to put in your other special attributes.

If I wanted to use the Speech and Barter skills it isn't necessary to have a high CHA is it?
I was thinking about making it 2 or 3 and just keep adding points to those skills.

Someone told me there are some speeches unlocked with a high charisma, but I've never played a character with a charisma above 1, so I wouldn't know.

If you want to raise your charisma at certain times you can take alcohol with party time mentats, instead of permanentely raising it.

Not too difficult a roleplay but how about a character that only uses pistols / thrown explosives / thrown weapons and knives - on VH/hardcoe. Intelligence of no more than 5, no Educated or comprehension, and try get perks you may not have tried already. Try and look as suave as you can - start off with a dirty pre war businesswear and sunglasses and improve when you get the chance. This will be my next playthrough, am looking forward to using Fast Shot and perks that i've never tried before like Rapid Reload, The Professional, Gunslinger, etc. Plan on having 10 AGI and Rapid Reload so it is literally just a semi auto bullethose.
