Any Good R.T.S Games? (PC)

Post » Fri Oct 17, 2014 8:14 pm

So the title pretty much says it all I'm looking for a good old fashion RTS game for my P.C (Toshiba Satellite C655.) I have every Age of Empires, Rise of Nations, and Rome: Total War. Anyone know of any good ones that my hunk of crap laptop can run? Thank you in advance.

Sincerely,

Prizrak

Get Warcraft III and Starcraft, maybe Starcraft II if you're up to spec with your old piece of crap. Those are absolute classics. Also, Command & Conquer, Tiberian Sun, Red Alert, Red Alert II are all must haves. Cossacks is another pretty good one, kind of like Total War meets Age of Empires.

Oh, look up 0 A.D. Freeware, and it's a lot like an improved AoE game.

I played Starcraft and I didn't really see the appeal. But Cossacks sounds interesting, so does this 0 A.D. I'll have to check them out.

Starcraft and Warcraft (2 or 3 depending on you computer) are good bets.

Command and Conquer.

Pretty much anything that isn't RA3 or Twilight is a good bet.

Age of Mythology if you like AoE (I actually prefer AoM).

I forgot to add that I have Age of Mythology. Pretty much all of the known classics I have, but this Cossacks game is new to me and it looks good. I'm downloading the Anthology from GOG so I'll let you guys know what I think of it.

Oh, and Europa Universalis. It's a real-time grand strategy, like a way, way more in depth Total War strategy map. There's no unit combat, rather it's about maneuvering huge armies and maintaining infrastructure, but it's awesome.

I will look for that as well, have you tried Hearts of Iron? I always wandered if that game was worth buying.

Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth 2. You'll need a widescreen fix, but its my favorite RTS of all time. Unfortunately, EA took down the servers a few years ago, so LAN (or VPN) multiplayer is all that is left. The single player campaign and skirmishes are pretty fun though.

HoI is very, very good for what it is. It's decidedly more war-focused that EU or Victoria (another good one), so I prefer the others, but it's still very, very good at what it does.

There's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impossible_Creatures. It may be hard to find a copy. But if you do it was really fun.
