Any good NON-bodymod armours?

Post » Sat Aug 14, 2010 10:30 pm

So I've decided to see if I couldn't find any good new armours after being away from Oblivion for quite some time, but naturally all I'm ever seeing are ridiculous borderline-fetishistic 'armour' that could barely protect it's wearer from a playful slap on the back, never mind legions of weapon-wielding bandits, undead, demons and various critters and creatures all wanting a piece of me. To further add insult to injury, there's far more attention paid to these stripperiffic outfits for harlets-that-believe-themselves-adventurers than there are decent unisix armours. If I do actually see something that might be decent, it will no doubt require one of the several body mods out there designed to push pointless male fantasy to the forefront.

Are there any decent, unique looking armours (preferably not just retextures of existing models) that would look more fitting in a field of battle than stretched across a woman wrapped around a vertical pole in a dingy club?

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13884? It has a lot of retextures but I think it has some unique stuff too.

I've got the Armamentarium already, and it does include a few fairly interesting looking pieces of armour, I'm a primarily light-armour character player, and a large amount of what it has is heavy armour. Not that it kept me from using an awesome looking winged helmet for a few levels until I could start enchanting things.

I don't remember the name of the mod, but I've found a seller that deals in Sotonharian(sp?) arms and armour that look especially impressive, and is part of the inspiration to making this topic. I suppose I wouldn't mind too much having to use a body replacer though, so much as it doesn't force ridiculous proportions onto the women and the armour in question that requires it at least looks like armour and not chainmail bikinis and nipble-clamps.

Easy. Get TGND, BAB, Robert's Female Body... or heck, even HGEC - just don't use one of the bigger cup sizes, if that bothers you (not that that's unrealistic, mind you, per se). It's all a matter of taste.

Believe it or not, there's a lot of great (and not skimpy) armour for HGEC/Exnem. And most body mods have an "underwear" version, if you prefer.

If you install one of the big overhauls, like FCOM, OOO or Frans+addons in addition to Armamentarium and quest mods like Blood&Mud, Windfall and others, you'll have so much to find that there will be no need for mods that add armours in barrels.

Seeing as how the 'trailer' I just watched for OOO has a very obvious 'armour' consisting of a 'cuirass' that barely covers the chest and greaves leaving the rest of the body literally naked, among a number of retextures and other female armours that are little more than briastplates that literally just cover the briasts... yeah. Most of the other features it adds are handled by mods I already use, and anything else it adds I'm not interested in. As well, seeing things that implied I'd have to restart is a definite buzzkill given how much time I've put into the game already, especially hunting down the alchemy gear I needed.

That trailer is obviously made for the Nexis peanut gallery. There are lots of great, real armours in OOO, but as you say, they do orignally come from other mods.

There are a lot of good (female) armours for HGEC and Roberts, some are a bit on the skimpy side, but there are enough that are full-cover or "reasonable" cover to keep most people happy.

the thing that irritates me is that people don't bother to produce an alternate version which is more modest, even when that would just involve something like a leather bodyglove or something.

Also, putting a few swirly bits of betal on top of an HGEC body and calling it a "new" armour is a little bit rich to begin with.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34242 is pretty good, especially the chainmail

For new armours, I don't know. It doesn't bother me that there are so many ridiculous fantasy armours and that people use them, it's completely their choice, but it gets to a point where you can't find any other armour cause this stuff just clogs up the search

Here's a bunch of them (I don't use all of them personally, but a good number of them I do).

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19228 This is a great place to start. It's mostly heavy armor, but it mirrors the real world stuff, like coifs and the like.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8440 This is also a good set (it ranges from wacky to beautifully crafted, however :) )

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26543 I like this set from pale_rider, check out his work for more good stuff.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12641 These ranger coats are of good make as well :)

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=31370 This one is a a good piece.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=28256 'ere's a nice set of ranger armor.
Whoops, forgot you didn't want body mod armor there :whistling:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29163 Not the most functional armor, but it's quite nice.

That's the problem I've been having. I try to search through the armour pages on the Nexus and all I see are page after page of nipble chains, bare briasts and other 'armour' that would be a stretch to even call clothes, and whatever isn't tends to just be retextures. Frankly, it would be better if they separated genuine armour from sixual fantasy outfits.

These are pretty nice! I like the selection of bows as well.

Here's a bunch of them (I don't use all of them personally, but a good number of them I do).

[links]

I stumbled across the Knightly Armour set and was pleasantly surprised, for sure. I have a tab open for that already so when it comes time for me to harvest the mods I don't have yet, I can just scroll through the tabs and download multiple rapidly.

The Silver Dragon stuff looks alright, though the headgears are pretty interesting.

That Nordic stuff is pretty awesome, actually, and that's a nice Claymore too. That's a definite take.

Ranger coats I have.

That Underworld armour is really nice too. Kind of reminds me of http://tesnexus.com/downloads/images/21568-3-1244301787.jpg, which is what I was using before I found http://tesnexus.com/downloads/images/26490-1-1251379269.jpg for sale.

The Ranger armour is fine even if I have to use a body mod, I don't mind so long as there are armours for it that literally cover your ass, unlike a number of other body mod specific armours that leave your ass and other fleshy parts hanging out and prime real estate for families of knives to move in. The Silverlight armour is kind of impractical, but the chainmail skin replacement makes it better looking. Doesn't hurt I'm digging the pauldrons and gauntlets, either.

Thanks for these, three guaranteed takes at the least. The hard part will be figuring out which ones to use.

http://waalx.com/RealSwordsForum/viewtopic.php?t=249 adds tons wonderful new believable armors so does the Gladiator addition.
Although the later has proven to be slightly instable.

Of course, this is only a small part of the huge project.
so you′ll have to deal with overall increase of subjective awesomeness.
I recommend giving it a try to any.

I've started modding Oblivion 3 weeks ago, and this is exactly the impression I got while I was searching armors to add to my game. It seems that almost the entire section of Clothes, Armors and Race & Hair Additions at TESNexus are dedicated to those who play with sensual women characters who like to show their nvde, sixy and big-briasted bodies in every occasion. Most of armors and clothes just cry out loud "BEHOLD MY PINK nipbleS"

Anyway, I found http://tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=318 by Eshenaleros. It helped me a great deal.

Glad you'll enjoy some of them. And I personally use Shiki armors as well, they do a nice job of covering the body.

Oh damn, I didn't even know about this, even though I already use the RealSwords modules. I might have to check that out, though I'm a bit curious how it might conflict with other mods.

Ah, I was trying to remember the name of that mod. I also have that, though I am a little disappointed that they're whole suits rather than individual pieces. It kind of hurts enchantment potential, but they're awesome and the weapons are nice as well. I made the Runeblade my main sword after seeing what it looked like, since I found the sheath on the back just to cool looking.

I was drawn to the Shiki armours for their ridiculous size, as well as intermixed with lighter armours as well. My current character actually started off with Heavy Armour, but I had pitiful strength, so wearing the armour pretty much took up all my encumbrance, so I opened up chargen again, swapped for Light and took one of the http://tesnexus.com/downloads/images/22394-2-1233846225.jpg by the same author. Ran with that until I started finding better light armour, and then I found the Sotonhorian stuff and haven't needed to change out much, mostly because there really wasn't much to change to that would be an improvement.

You already mentioned Sotonhorian by Andragorn, but really anything that modder makes is fantastic in my book. His http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11265 is one of my favorite light armor sets.

I use this one for my Imperial fighter companion: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26055 (no nudity images in the taget link)

Others good choices for HGEC:
R18PN Leere Armor (search tesnexus)

also to consider:
Blackluster Armor
WhiteSquall-Armor
SinBlood's Widow dress for HGEC D

Yeah, I've already grabbed all his stuff. I was surprised to see a lamellar armour, I don't recall there being anything like that in Oblivion already.

The Underworld armour was already linked. Everything else isn't close to what I'm looking for, or doesn't seem to exist.

Blackluster Armor

I use the white Saint version of that for my Spellsword, apart from the high-heeled boots it's vey nice looking armor. I have the Eyecandy Compilation mod and Apachii Goddess Store for modded armors, however most of those are half-nvde bikini armors :hubbahubba:

There are soooo many armor mods out there I don't have room in my load order for the ones I want to use (...started making a custom esp for my own use that combines pieces I really like). Finding the ones you want; however, can be a challenge. I think of it as a scavenger hunt of sorts. Warped individual that I am, I actually enjoy the act of hunting down mods I might like and trying them out.

I share your frustration that so much of the really beautiful artistic modding work has been in the area of what is essentially soft porm and not lore appropriate for Oblivion. However, modding is a hobby and, above all else, for the enjoyment of the mod maker. Though I may never understand the fascination of others with cartoon pronography, I respect their right to produce and share the same with like-minded, age appropriate individuals, and merely choose to use other mods I find more entertaining in my own games.

My two cents.

Regards,

Hem

OOO doesn't require a new game either. There is the OOOUpsave.exe file that allows you to play with an existing game, if I remember correctly...
