Any idea to fix my glitched graphics?

Post » Sat Jan 16, 2016 3:33 pm

I put in maybe 40+ hours then this happened. Wavy red lines across pretty much all people/enemies/companions, and moving turrets. I updated my graphics driver and deleted my ini files in MyDocuments/MyGames/Fallout 4 folder but no luck. Also, my character looks fine when I see her in 3rd person view.

Any ideas of what else to try would be appreciated.

Uh, it seems I can't post a link to my screenshot of the problem. Too bad, they'd provide way more information then my written description of it. I have the Imgur link if anyone wants it to see the issue. It's like people/creatures, and moving objects are covered in glowing red wavy lines, the rest of the world looks fine.

Looks like a perk. I'll research it when I get home.

List all active perks.

The only perk that i can thing off is: B l o o d y M e s s

Rank 1: +5% bonus damage means enemies will sometimes explode into a gory red paste. Watch out for flying eyeballs!

I believe its related to the Targeting HUD for power armor. It will also give you the effect when your companion wears PA with the helmet equipped.

I'll look into graphics glitches from power armor and tricks to resolve those and see if it helps.

Also, I do use mods with Nexus mod manager. I do not have Bloody Mess perk.

It's not a graphical glitch per se. A bug, maybe, since you aren't wearing PA. However, it would be normal if you wore PA with a targeting HUD helmet equipped.

If you would PM me a link to the save I could troubleshoot better.

Yup. This is active target tracking. If it's not supposed to be on, try entering the shader refresh code through the console. It may have gotten stuck just like the blurred vision or Night Person sneak vision can get stuck.

The console commands are:

rimod 00094636

rimod 002041B6

I think you want the second one. Just watch it -- no telling what this may do to the game in the long run.

P.S. -- This is enabled through various armor pieces, power armor, chems, etc. Be sure you are not using/wearing something that enables target tracking before using the console command. If you had a weapon with a Recon Scope, it may have caused the glitch when you aimed down the scope. Either that, or you took a chem and the effect never wore off.

Short update. Wow but so glad to have the issue narrowed down. You folks are a great help. I don't recall ever using power armor with targeting hud in my game so had never seen the red outlines before. I have modded several weapons to add recon scopes though, my guess is using one of them is what caused it since I haven't used chems either.

So I mailed off my save to Níeh?ggr. I also made another save and tried the rimod console commands. I tried the bottom one first (rimod 002041B6) saw no change, quit to desktop and reloaded game. Still same so tried the first console command (rimod 00094636), quit to desktop and reloaded, still the same.

Check your PM.

Recon scope is black&white and not related to your issue.

There are 30 or so image space modifiers so I don't know why people list two that supposedly fix all image space issues.

Problem resolved!!!

http://www.gamesas.com/user/351892-ni%C3%B0hoggr/ loaded up the save I pm'd him and found that stripping off all worn clothing items cleared out the issue. Thank you! I was able to replicate this and then re-equip my armor pieces one by one and it stayed fixed.

Thank you all for taking the time to read about my problem and offer insight in how to fix it. My game looks so much better not having all the characters polluted with red wavy lines all the time. All the best to everyone in their wasteland endeavors!

Because these are the ones that have been tested and narrowed down as having definite functions that affect the game. Many of the addresses (that are known) do not seem to function or function inconsistently. These two are at least proven to clear up issues here and there. Modifying addresses aimlessly and then saving could have a negative impact on the game's savestate.

If you have additional knowledge, you are welcome to share it. Many may find that more helpful than your comment above.

Imod help 0

Or similar, not at my computer to confirm, lists all available image space modifiers. They are labeled (somewhat).

AFAIK none will ruin your saves. When in doubt don't save your game after using the command. Many are only temporary transitions.

Can you confirm which shaders are associated with which address? So far the ones I listed should clear up perma- concussion blur, night vision, recon scope, drunk/stoned blur (which I think is just the concussion blur), and the Night Person Perk "cats eyes".
