Any "Major" differences...

Between the ps3 and 360 versions of the game? I have read that the ps3's port is inferior to the 360 and then i read another and say that the ps3 is the better option. Has anyone played on both and if so which would you prefer. The only reason i ask is my bro wants to get the game is trying to decide which console he should get it for. Thanks in advance.

I would say they are similar enough to purchase either. However, consider that the XBox 360 version has a graphics bug known as the "grain glitch" which is documented in a huge thread in the 360 forum so even though looks and performance may be a little better on XBox the PS3 version has no graphics glitches like the XBox version. Crytek have said they are going to fix the grain glitch for the XBox, but nobody knows when they will.

Go read the anolysis that Lens of Truth and DigitalFoundry have done on the two versions.

Basically:

-PS3 has a slightly lower framerate than the 360 during cinematic moments when there is not much combat going on
-360 framerate drops alot during hectic battles, the PS3 has a higher framerate during these battles
-The 360 resolution is 1152x720p, the PS3 is 1024x720p

Water is better on PS3 and some detail layers are missing on 360 - like certain puddles, cracks in road etc
Ps3 is more blurry and streched so squares are rectangles

I own both versions and i must say its hard to choose. They both are better than the other in different areas. However, shadows render better on 360 and there is less detail "popping". I'd say if he is trying to do s/p go with ps3 (thats where the grain glitch in the 360 is) if mp is his deal the 360 all the way. They are both beautiful either way and you cant really go wrong with your choice.

You're forgetting that the 360 version has screen tearing, which the PS3 doesn't have.

All things considered I'd say the versions are similar enough that it really boils down to which console you like to play on better. Which is why I got the PS3 version.

I've played both and they're essentially the same. Some minor bugs in both, but when it comes down to strictly gameplay and experience they'll both identical in my eyes. 360 has a bigger population, but the PS3 has enough people to ensure that you won't be playing the same players over and over again.
