Any mod packs?

Post » Thu Nov 07, 2013 4:37 pm

Whenever I mod Skyrim (following EXACT steps of multiple tutorials) all the textures end up being washed out, I get performance problems and everything. There's always a problem. Is there like a 'mod-pack' I can download, so I just DL and extract 10gb of mod files, go AFK, come back with a heavily-modded perfect working Skyrim.

Your not adding MP3's to a playlist, you are recoding the game when you install mods. You need to learn the proper tools and techniques to install mods, resolve conflicts between the mods, and get the game stable. Mods are not designed or intended to work together, other than though the graces of the mod authors who take the time to make the patches needed to get one mod to work with another one.

Start with this video and watch the other dozen or so to get an idea. Also, he has install guides and mod reviews for most of the mods out there, so you can get specific mod help if you need it.

As CCNA said, modding TES-games is not (and should not be) simple download&play. Learn the basics and then start adding mods. Use the proper management tools, mind the load order and compatibilities etc. Take your time and don't rush.

As others stated no. However, using tools like NMM, wryebash and boss, you can come fairly close. However, you still need to have a clear idea on what you want. Also, think about what your asking for. A "heavily modded" skyrim. What exactly constitutes heavy? Graphic mods? Gameplay overhaul? quests?

If your talking about graphic mods, its pretty much a download and go afk setup already. (Unless you go insane and download enough to eat up all your memory).

If your talking about gameplay overhauls.. There are only two that stand out in my mind. Requiem and skyrim re-done. Both are very different, and both have their pros and cons. Requiem tends to be for folks who like to flagellate themselves. (its very unforgiving). Skyrim re-done, less extensive, but far more modular a system. (Like you can pick a combat overhaul part but not the race overhaul). It also comes with reproccer, to help adjusting any armor/weapon packs you d/l.

If your speaking about quests - you'd be better off just uninstalling skyrim then downloading any sort of quest pack. Its very easy to screw up your game in very odd and unpredictable ways with quest mods. You *have* to read the description, and even more importantly read the comment section.

edit: Finally, I'd avoid any of the "packs" various sites try and come up with every now and then. For one thing, it tends to annoy the mod authors who never gave permission. Also, they may not have the very latest version.
