Any mods or unofficial patches needed before playing the gam

Hi
After playing Fallout 3 iam planing now to buy Fallout: New Vegas. But Fallout 3 had the problem with these bramin wandering traiders, it was possible that some of them die which resulted in at least one quest could not beeing finished, and the bad part was that these traiders could die without letting the player take notice. That happened to me and nearly ruined the fun but fortunately i found a mod which made them and their bodyguard and their bramin unkillable.

This time i want to prepare for such things before i start playing Fallout: Las Vegas! So my question is, are there similar problems in F:NV like in F3? And if yes, how can i patxh this?

btw.: i will play F:NV fully patched and with all DLC but i do not want to use any content mods because this will be my first playthought

This is the latest unofficial patch: http://www.ravenmodding.terminal47.net/?p=768. Official patching has ended, and there are still plenty of bugs remaining, that'll help with those. It includes DLC patches.

And if you ask me, apart from the unoffical patch there really is no mod that is "needed", New Vegas is pretty well designed. Only thing that bugs me is the level cap of 50 if you have all the DLCs, personally i would never play without something that either lowers level cap or reduces skillpoints and perks gained.

Why is it that people who aren't even developers or part of of the game in any way are able to fix the game but people who get paid for it dont?

Problem is that developing patches costs money, but doesn't earn any money. That is why only the most critical/annoying bugs are fixed. Modders on the other hand don't have to worry about a budget.

Well it's money thing and most the developers are(were is the better word) more focused on game-killing bugs(crashes).

It's on steam so unless you turned it off, it auto-updates.
The patch mostly fixes quest and NPCs.

http://newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=41094 might be nice to have as well. It fixes errors in terrain (floating rocks, clipping).

There's one more suggestion, but it depends on what your opinion is on this.
Personally I find leveling in New Vegas to easy and with 50 levels skill-points become to numerous I'd suggest a mod that slows leveling down and perhaps decreases overall skill-points. But again you should at least play a bit and see if you agree.
