Any new info on the weapons?

i havent been keeping up with skyrims info lately, and i wasnt sure if there they mentioned anything new about the weapons in the game (aside from todds podcast)

The two probably biggest develolpments are

You can now dual wield weapons/spells.
Blunt and Blade skills replaced with One handed and Two handed skills.

Duel wield and they replaced Blunt and Blade!
I always thought that Blunt and Blade were very stupid, and that they should have had a Light and Heavy, or Blade, Mace, Axe.
And I always thought it was pretty lame that even Two Worlds, the really BAD Oblivion knock off, had duel wielding in it.
Skyrim seems to be improving in everything but the character physics, because, as we saw in Oblivion, where Hair looked like the characters spent weeks applying thousands of bottles of hair gel into it, Skyrim seems like Hair has very tiny bones in them, as they seem to bend with the character (As we saw with the Sneaking Blond Man, hunting a deer) However, I am certain they will fix it.
On a weapon note, I can safely say that Daedric Weapons might not be in this game, and they might add some new material to replace it (In terms of Armor, probably Dragonhide, although that seems more Light Armor then Heavy) They most likely will still stay with summoned weapons being Daedric, but found or bought items will be something different.
In Oblivion, we had these materials:
Iron
Steel
Silver
Dwarven
Elven
Glass
Ebony
Daedric
For Weapons and these materials:
Fur
Iron
Leather
Steel
Chainmail
Dwarven
Mithril
Orcish
Elven
Ebony
Glass
Daedric
For Armor. I say that a large amount of these materials will go away. Fur, Leather, Iron, Steel, Chainmail, Silver. Those are almost certain to stay in the game. The others may not, but most likely will, except for Daedric and, maybe, Dwarven (But not likely)
Also, in terms of throwbacks to the old games in terms of weapons, I would say Umbra may turn up somewhere, as would Wabbajack, maybe. In fact, I would say ALL of the Daedric artifacts will either appear, be referenced, or otherwise, other then the minor ones, such as Azuras Star. Now, I think that the Blades gear will return, as there is a supporting character who is the last remaining member of the Blades. He will either wear it into battle, or give it to you as a gift (Perhaps he dies, and his dying words are to give you his enchanted version of the suit.) This will also mean Akaviri Katanas, meaning that you can still roleplay as a samurai, or ninja, or otherwise.
And, finally, I think that, with an apparent 50 lvl cap, they will have WAY more enemies, WAY more land, and WAY more types of weapons. If there is normally a material for every 4-5 lvls, that will mean anywhere from 12-20 materials, most likely around 16.
Well, thats my very long winded opinion, but I can safely say, that as an Oblivion Junkie, I am expecting A LOT of IV weapons, as well as A LOT of new ones.
I would also like to see a Dark Brotherhood, and a throwback to the dagger you get when you start the quest line, the Blade of Woe.

The real disappointment is no dual-wielding shields. Confused Turtle Mode will be a day 1 mod, I'm sure of it.

Good, goooood. I just hope there is a little more weapon variety. Aside from different materials, the weapon set is pretty uniform.

One screen shot showed concept art entitled "Bandit Armor". Could be a break away from material based armors, leaning more towards fallout with the "raider armor"... might have just been a confused turtle concept artist though.

That could be, although if so, then that means that Skyrim will be turning towards Fallout with Swords.

Daedric weaponry has been in the TES games since Daggerfall and is prominently featured in the lore. Why should it be removed? After all the Nirn is very much a part of Oblivion (not the game, mind you). I'd say that you can be assured of Daedric weapons armours making a return.

Moreover, Dwemer artifacts are also found in Skyrim, so dwarven armour and weaponry will also be making a return.

Edit: Confused Dunmer with Dwemer. :confused:

Dwemer Weapons will be there, as there are Dwemer Ruins.
However, I will miss these days: :obliviongate:

Sorry, I only played Oblivion, although I tried to download Arena and Daggerfell, but I could not get the program they got me to install to work. I also thought that Morrowind did not look nearly as good as IV, so I passed.
However, I tried to fill myself in on the lore as much as possible...

Anyways, I meant Daedric Weapons would not be common to just pick up, as we have closed the gates to Oblivion already. You could say that there are still Deadric Weapons that were left in Tamriel, but the Oblivion Crisis, from what I can gather, only affected the area around the Imperial City, so how would they have ended up in Skyrim, other then travellers:
Think about this: Skyrim is cold. The people from the IV area will probably stay at home, where it IS NOT cold. Those who do go, what are the chances that they will have Daedric stuff, AND happen to leave ité
I said they would stay conjured, and would still be in the game, but after 200 years, and the rarity, they will probably exist in only enchanted instances. They will also not be the strongest anymore. I also said it is simply unlikely that they will be in the game as much as they were in IV.

Ah! I see what your getting at. You see, Oblivion is just a void. The weather in Skyrim shouldn't, I suppose, affect the activities of the Daedra or influence their presence. Daedra lords and daedra are just as likely to be present in Skyrim as they were in Cyrodiil during the events of Oblivion.

On a more unrelated side-note, I hope Daedric armour (or any end game armour) would be much more rarer than it was in TES IV.

I see what you mean, but does that mean that the specific TYPE of Daedric weapon will still be in the gameé
I think that they will have some kind of Daedric Weapons, but the Plane of Oblivion is uselss.
Mehrune Dagon is dead, the gates are closed for good, and the only Obliv-ric weapons are weapons that were already in the world.

Just not quite as rare as in Morrowind, where you can't ever find a complete set, except by killing Divath Fyr.

Thats such a funny thought. Imagine a battlefield. The armies are rushing toward each other, shouting words of strength and courage.
And in the middle...the confused turtle running with his two shields and not knowing what he does and where he is...

Deadric Armour has always been in the game as a challenge to collect, Oblivion was the difference where they gave every poor pennyless begger the stuff ^.^

The Oblivion crysis happend EVERYWHERE across Tamriel cant you remember the dunmer NPC's talking about Ald-ruhn being overrun.
and Deadric armour wasn't issued to the dremora, the dremora are deadroth so they generally change themselves to look like they wear armour (yes that Caitliff shield you guys carried around is a lump of demon skin)

Morrowind explains this quite well if you are willing to spend the game wandering around to hunt books.

The Deadric Artifacts however are Infinite as they are Manifestations of the Princes themselves and unlike the Aedra the Deadra has unlimited power to act upon. so the artifacts that are around most likely depend on what deadra are around.
