Any new texture packs other than Qarl?

Post » Wed Mar 16, 2011 8:52 pm

It will. I completed all the landscape and clutter textures but i'll have to separate them into two since the total file size is roughly 2 gigs.

Did u change the meshes like quarl did with his pack?

Be nice to be a texture like NMC texture packs for fallout 3. But its alot of work and months.

Qarl's is like the NMC texture pack, they both serve the exact same function in their respective games. If you're referring to the different "performance packs" of NMC, there's QTP Redimized and Reduced which both work in exactly the same way as the performance variants of NMC.

I dont need the reduced packs. NMC texture seem better. But i would image because its newer.

1. QTP3 rocks but isn't complete, you may consider other texture packs to replace what it doesn't cover.

2. Check RAEVWD and TES4LODGen if you really enjoy seeing things from afar.

3. You may have a NASA rig and still Oblivion will easily kneel it, if you go overboard with mods and textures and if you don't use certain tools (OSR, Streamline, Quiet feet max, 4gb patch for 64bit systems).
It's not much an hardware issue - the limit is in the game engine which is far from optimized.

What textures does Qarls texture pack 3 not replace? Could you link me to some textures packs to go with Qarls texture pack 3? Their are so many out their. are AmpolX's just landscape? Also im sure i dont need quiet feet. The idea of no footsteps in unrealistic too me. i have a asus xonar dx.

Unpack vanilla textures bsa and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.

In my previous post I've linked several that can be used.. there are a few, and more choices is better than fewer, don't you think?

It's a matter of taste at the end, we can just point out the alternatives and then you check and decide what's best for you.

If you use Wrye Bash (BAIN) it will be very easy and fast to install different mix'n matches of textures and see their effects yourself.

AmpolX has got gorgeous landscape and the best caverns' textures imo, and you can check what content he replaces by simply dling and opening his files.

Regarding quiet feet etc.- don't use it, just let us know what happens the first time you're on horseback and meet a wolf or two..

Bottom line - Oblivion, thanks in great part to a passionate, skilled and dedicated community of modders, can deliver the best PC RPG experience ever,
but the level of reward and satisfaction is proportional to how much you know the basics about how to make the game really work.

I've started studying Oblivion quite intensively since August, and I've still got to finish a running configuration that satisfies me..
And it won't until I learn merging mods as I'm already hitting the 255 max mods limit. But that's just me (and on different degrees, most of the crazy great guys and girls on this forum)
Many people enjoy the console version :)

They're almost exactly the same based on their respective games. Both have doubled the file sizes for the most part from the vanilla ones, and added some of their own versions of the default textures. Aside from the fact that they're dealing with different games there's really very little difference between the two.

What textures does Qarls texture pack 3 not replace?

It doesn't do anything with plant and tree textures for one. For that you can get Mikal's Improved Trees and Flora. He also has one for the food in the game, which Qarl's again doesn't deal with.

Don't use that PES download of mine. Everything is all outdated (by two years almost). I'm working on getting everything sorted out here soon.

Thanks !!!!

Thanks JdeRau, didnt' know about those ones..

Damn, http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/Image.php?id=87184 and http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/fms/Image.php?id=87183 screenshots look amazing.. The tonality of colors, truly "earthly".. What a fantastic job!

@ AmpolX: can you please tell me what replacer is the first link from? (Second is Jerall I guess, just downloaded!)

@ Anithinks: Mtgr's Textures definitely deserve mention.. Very well done and covers stuff not touched by others.

@ dmxdex2020: "better" in something visual is highly subjective.. All replacers discussed so far are high quality jobs.

I would add http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18677 - an extensive work, definitely superior over Vanilla but with same memory usage.

Also, http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18430 with http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18429

And regardless of how you replace textures, don't forget to get these must-haves:

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16513 (all of them, but for Bruma you may consider http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26625 which I personally find superior to BC's one)

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19370

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=18305 awesome complete weather overhaul with improved weather textures

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34199 Lets you see outside windows!

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19628

For a new experience, you may also experiment with http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=30054 visual effects.

Enjoy :)

Edit: for terrain there's a very good Hi-Res replacer called http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15245

Thats a great list.

1.Mikal33 made texture pack for Bravil - http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10383 , Burma - http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8954 , Chorrol - http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9500, Skingard - http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10381.
It gives cleaner, less aged look. I used Chorrol and Skingrad ones to diversity cities look by riches level.

You know AmpolX, we all secretly plan these "texture topics" in order to get your attention so we can beg for you to re-post your work. ;)
But yah, I am HIGHLY anticipating the re-release of your texture packs! Since I accidentally deleted a bunch of mod downloads (including yours)
I've been going through withdraws. Can't handle vanilla textures any longer!!!

I very much agree with this post, looking through at some screenshots AmpolX has posted has made me craving for something more than Qarl's.
