Any news on precise start times?

Post » Fri Feb 21, 2014 10:00 am

So since most MMOs launch at midnight or 00:01 of the day listed as launch day, you could speculate that ESO will go live at 11:59 PM EST on April 3rd, 11:59PM EST March 31st for 3 day head start, and 11:59 PM EST March 29th for the 5 day head start.

Of course you can bump those times ahead by 2 mins and get 00:01 the next day.

Anyone heard official start times yet?

I've not seen anything official on it as yet, I am sure they will announce what time the server goes live at some point nearer the date though - I doubt very much that they'll just leave it up to us guessing.

Being in the UK, there's no such thing as a 'normal' release date or time any more, used to be Friday and the larger games shops would have a special event at 00:01, but it would often be days or even weeks after the US release, date and time is now not so certain for us but at least we tend to get access to games at around the same time as the US, no more avoiding the internet for weeks to avoid spoilers :D

So yeah in summary, "I don't know" with a bit of rambling thought added. :D

March 29th doesn't seem that far away when you say it out loud several times until you make yourself believe it.

Yeah. I'm afraid march is going to go even slower than Feb. If that's possible lol.

I doubt it'll be :01 either side of Midnight. Smart money says around 3-6 am server time. From my experience, that's when most studios start launch (DDO, LotRO, STO, NWO, TOR, + all of their expansions). They'll wait until all of the freaks fall asleep or give up and launch in the wee hours so the servers can ramp up a little slower. Whatever the actual time is, they won't come right out and say it. That's surely asking for healthcare.gov-esque server congestion for the first few hours.

That's just my experience however.

I am curious if Oceanic people will start one day after the official start date for both launch and head start. Or, one day before either. Since we are one day ahead of US time.

Some MMO's have let the oceanic people start on the day before, which is great :). I just wonder what will happen with ESO since I cant find any information in regards to this question.

Really? Which ones?; I'm not a big launch-day MMOer.

I really can't imagine any American company giving us such treatment, but hell, if you can give examples...

Rift and TORtanic are ones that I played one day earlier than official US launch times.

I remember people kicking up a stink on the forums that Oceanic people would lose one day of headstart time (which is true) compared to the US and the UK time zones etc...

People used the usual arguments, bait and switch, false advertising, discrimination, that kinda stuff.

Wait, when you say "one day earlier", do you mean on the same actual day?

Because that is not discrimination. That is use a [censored] time converter.
