Any other special warriors such as Sword-singers?

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 5:32 am

I've read a bit of lore and I can't seem to find anything quite like the Sword-singers. There are the Shadowscales, but as far as I know they don't have any particular talents or idiosyncrasies.

The Maddened Ayleidoon Kings. Who 'spoke' to their weapons, which Umaril had wrought with Varlian magicks so that they could pierce the metallic exo-skin of the Star-made-knight, out of their madness and laid Pelinal the third low.

I thought in some lore it said the Nords used the Thu'um on their weapons as well to make them sharper etc....

The Alinor Navy, Gaiden Shinji, the Buoyant Armigars, Her Hands, The Blades, Hircine's Hounds (not a formal order, more a collection of selected Werebeasts), the Vigil of Stendarr, Knights of the Lamp. Oh, you meant with a super special awesome super secret power? Her Hands, the Buoyant Armigars, and the Companions.

The Nord Tongues, back before the Greybeards became hippies.

I would think that that Shadowscales would be a force to be reckoned with. Training to kill since birth, not many people are brought up like that.

Too bad they're gone during Skyrim. A Saxhleel member of the Dark Brotherhood is the only Shadowscale left. Then again, it's hard being a Shadowscale nowadays, as there is no sign people are born under anymore :P

The Blades were once all but wiped out too. Just because he said he was the last of his order doesn't neccesarily mean he was.

Well, first of all, the Sword-singers were all Redguard, and the Thu'um have nothing to do with them. I'd imagine that they were just swordfigters that mastered the art of weapon conjuration i.e. bould longswords.

Yes, but they do it through the manifestation of their spirit, not the soul of a dragon.

Possibly because it doesn't matter in the very long run.

Technically the Tongues of olden times were not Dragonborns. It takes a lot of willpower and training to learn even ONE Word of Power in Thu'um, so the swordsingers and Tongues are quite comparable.

Super special secret powers?

Her Hands- Divine blessings imbued into their very beings that enhances their bodies to make them peerless warriors.----Okay.
Companions- they got nothing except for the Circle which can turn into werewolves...----maybe?
Buoyant Armigers- Okay this has me stumped. What was their special power? Were they not just specially trained and that is pretty much it?----Huh??

IIRC, the Buoyant Armigers were pretty specifically Vivec's wandering troupe of warrior-poets that he blessed with androgyny, among other things. I think Morrowind might have downplayed them a little.

The Imperial Cyrodilic Diplomatic Corps.

They're renowned for plunging deep into hostile negotiating rooms and subduing their irate counterparts by hosing them down with their collective Emperor voices.

Now this sounds better than any sort of crazies who serenade their swords.

People are still born under starsigns, the Dragonborn is simply special in that he's not. There's a book about this in game, though I don't recall the title. And of course it's important to note that Skyrim is not the first ES game to allow you to change your starsign.

Now that I think of it, I sometimes wonder if Voice of the Emperor could have anything to do with the Thu'um.

Depending on how you look at it, blessings from a god imbued in their flesh and armor and weapons to become some of the most dangerous weapons on nirn is pretty super special. Maybe not secret.
Companions- they got nothing except for the Circle which can turn into werewolves...----maybe?
Pretty secret, pretty special. How many other warrior organizations are werebeasts?
Buoyant Armigers- Okay this has me stumped. What was their special power? Were they not just specially trained and that is pretty much it?----Huh??
Okay, that one's a bit of a joke, but their super special secret power is that they biblically know Vivec.

You don't need a soul of the dragon to use the thu'um, people learnt shouts on their own. Albeit it took them a hell of a lot of time compared to a dragon or dragonborn, but they could.
