Any other tips for getting into CFH without crashing?

Post » Sat Jul 10, 2010 4:30 am

Lets see, I've:

1) Turned off auto saves.

2) Stopped writing saves over previously saved games. Fresh save each time.

3) Tried entering without companions.

4) Turned off panoramic view

5) Done the whole "safe start" and fix corrupted files - multiple times.

6) Made sure vents are nice and clean - no dust (pretty much keep the machine immaculate. Hey I'm a girl like that.)

7) PS smoothing is off

8) Upscaler - normal

For the record - I have a PS3 slim 120 with 76/111BG Free. The only things I have on the machine are saved games from Fallout 3, Dragon Age, SWFU, FONV and Netflx.

I've tried to enter CFH multiple times now. I've fast traveled to multiple places (some close, some not close at all) and approached at different angles - each time - game slows then locks up.

And they've nominated this game for RPG of the year. I know a role it's REALLY excellent at playing - and it ain't nothing to do with best game of the year.

You've down a bunch of useless things if you ask me... Uninstall reinstall the game data. Thats the only thing that worked for me.

I've done what I've seen recommended. /shrug

Will try your suggestion - despite the rude accompanying commentary - thanks.

Oh - you mean the *second* patch with no release date? The one that may or may not fix the issue?

:D

Well, I'll be forced to wait if other things don't work, won't I? In the meantime, I'll troubleshoot a bit more.

Ok, reinstalled game data both with and without patch. Was able to enter the camp, walk around a bit, but after using my PIP boy twice- same thing - lock up.

I have to be careful what I say because I'll get swarmed by Moderators if I don't,but it seems to vary from game to game, all you did was great and it didn't help so my advice is wait for that stupid patch that as you said " may or may not fix the problem".and,It won't but all we can do is hope i guess. It doesen't matter if you have a 60gb system or a 300gb system, it's going to freeze and glitch-out anyway. I'd say park it for now,and play something else(preferably not made by Bethesda or Obsidian or any of the inbetween companies) I suggest maybe CoD:BO if you're into that,or Assassin's Creed Bro'hood,or maybe a nice family game like Little Big Planet...something to bide your time until this piece of crap gets fixed...too bad about this game, reality is,it's one of the best.(even though almost all the content was robbed from the first Fallout instead of making new stuff, even the Survival skill is from FO1 but in that it was called Outdoorsman)And it's also one of the worst,so it should get 2 awards.

Have you tried to play with your Internet conection "Disabled" (on your network settings) it seems to help. At least it did for me.

Good Luck.

Thanks Talonx I'll keep plugging for a bit. Waiting for "Nier" to arrive from GAMEFLY, and have Gears of War 2 waiting to be played. I have to say - I played AC2 and while I am interested enough in the story line to consider AC3 - I didn't love it enough to pick up Brotherhood... (And honestly LBP, while cute, isn't my style...)

Thanks a bunch Ommega, for the suggestion. It didn't seem to help me tho : ( I disabled the IC to keep me from inadvertently downloading the patch when I re-installed the game data.

Back to the drawing board! :D

What about disabling IC with the patch already installed? Because when I deleted the patch the whole framerate went down : P

Hmmm,I dunno,I'd say the chances of Jesus returning is a far better chance than them fixing this game. Also,Barney the Big Purple Reject Dinosaur jumping out of the tv screen and biting off your head while juggling chainsaws one-handed and reciting the alphabet backwards in French on a blue moon is more likely than Fallout being cured off all diseases.

LOL well, lets hope it's not THAT long :D

Ok - have played WITH the patch installed, and the IC off. I do see some improvement - can actually enter CFH and walk around a bit. As soon as I bring up my PIP boy tho - CRASH!

Yay!
