Any Tea Drinkers?

Post » Thu Apr 07, 2011 11:47 pm

Hello, I was wondering if there were any fellow tea drinkers here on the forums, and if so, which kinds of tea do you like?

I drink a lot of Rooibos, right now I have a Bourbon Vanilla flavour and Creme Caramel. I also have one called Pina Colada, which has pineapple, apple, coconut, hibiscus, rosehip, and orange peels. it's pretty addicting.....

What about you? I am always looking for new kinds of any tea, I like all kinds, although I'm not a huge fan of green tea, but I'll still gladly try those out. I once had a "Organic Kyoto Rose Sencha" tea(Sencha is a special type of Japanese green tea, very rich in antioxidants) that tasted amazing, so even green tea I'll check out.

So, feel free to post.... even discuss a bit about how you like to make your tea, do you use an infuser or the classic bagged teas? do you put sugar or milk/cream in it?

this is where I get all my teas, if you want to check it out...

I pretty much just stick with Earl Grey, hot. 99 times out of 100, I put nothing in it.

Yeah, I drink lots of tea but none of your "fancy" stuff, just good old British tea that comes in tea bags - Typhoo and PG Tips. :D

Mostly bagged, yeah. I don't get the Tetley stuff, but I highly doubt there is much difference in taste between the different brands of bagged tea.

I like "morrocan" (t5hats what the label says) it has mint and cinamon in it. Tastes lovely. So yeah look for mint and cinamon. I tried vanilla once, bu found it tasted too weak for me to really taste anything, so I stopped drinking it. Also tried lemon and ginger tea, but could taste 0 lemon and the ginger just made me thirsty, so not my cup of tea...

Yeah, this for me. Little bit of milk, maybe some sugar if I'm in the mood. Job done.

:D Same here. PG Tips and Darjeeling are my favorite teas, usually with a bit of milk added. If I feel like something different I might have some spiced chai.

orange pekoe
orange pekoe is what got me into tea.

Orange pekoe is actually just a name for the grade/cut of black teas, not an actual type of tea. But yea, plain black is what I usually drink. Loose leaf, from the teapot. Half n half, no shugz. Sometimes I drink green in the morning and I always have oolong with Chinese food. I hate most herbal "teas" unless it's some sort of medicinal/magickal concoction I feel like putting together at 3 in the morning.

Coffee in the morning....TEA the rest of the day. Lipton's Black & Orange Pekoe for me. Hot water in a big cup with 2 teaspoons sugar, then in a very exercised ritual, the sugar is stirred in a clockwise motion and with the velocity of the swirling water, TWO tea bags are deposited in a manner to allow the strings to twist all the way up; then they are wrapped around the handle, and the teabags remain in the cup for the duration of my enjoyment. When the cup is finished the teabags are squeezed for one last sip...."Waste not, Shall not".

And no fancy stuff for me.....caffeine is mandatory.

Is this Captian Picard by chance?

I am not much of a tea drinker, but if I do drink it, I don't mind Green Tea. Just a bit of milk (or not depending how I feel) and a bit of sugar, IF I don't have any honey to sweeten it a bit.

milk in green tea? I though it would curdle it... I like to sweeten some tea's with honey, too. I had a "blueberry honey" that was really good in teas, once....

Some grocery stores in the States (at least in my area) will stock PG Tips, especially if they have an international foods section--haven't seen Typhoo in a grocery store yet though. World Market stocks both.

Hm. Just noticed you're in Canada; that changes things. Not sure where you'd look for those teas in Canada...maybe at an international foods store, or check and see if the local grocery chain stocks has an international foods section.

I'm struck with the idea that PG Tips stands for "Purdy Good Tips".

Coffee is my main drink, but once in awhile I'll have a cup of tea. I like loose-leaf Oolong, or bagged Jasmine or Ancient Cherry, (these from Gevalia) or just regular Lipton Orange and Black pekoe. Mom just gave me 2 good sized bags of loose-leaf tea I haven't tried yet. They are both form Teavana, one is named Monkey Picked Oolong and the other is High Grown English Breakfast. I have a mental image of Chimpanzees out picking tea leaves and gossipping about the Orangutans.
