OT: any tes-style games based in greek mythology?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 1:13 pm

my favorite game growing up was Battle of Olympus on the NES. I was an awesome Zelda II style aa-rpg. Anyway, since gaming has evolved into 3D, i havent found any rpgs based on ancient greece that i liked. Rise of the Argonauts looks really crappy. Thoughts? Id love to play a TES-style RPG with greek mythology setting. any good ones out there?

There are barely any TES style games at all, let alone Greek mythology ones.

If it was a TES game it wouldn't be based on Greek mythology.

What I think could be a cool way to sort of combine the two would be this: Since Tamriel is not the entire world, a Greek-like civilization could exist on another continent. Something where the two cultures sort of discover each other and merge--NOT to the point of destroying the original culture, mind you. But just allow them to meet and have a small influence on each other. After all, Roman culture (including mythology) was very much influenced by Greek culture.

Greek Mythology no. Future games based on the the Ancient Greeks maybe. My guess would be Summerset Isle.

But the question is not about TES games. It's about TES STYLED games.

shadow of the collossus is the only thing I can think of.

But the open world is where the similarities end.. but you do fight giant stone gods.

Rise of the Argonauts is fine. I thought the voice work was pretty darn good. The music is great. The character models aren't meant to be realistic - there is an amount of style. Think of hercules as having an http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSTN mutation. :P I haven't finished the game or gotten too far, ran into a bug (I have the PC version), and I sort of dropped the ball on testing the work-arounds available.

God of War is awesome. It isn't TES, it isn't open-world, but that doesn't make it a bad game. In fact, it is an awesome game.

If you want a hack-n-slash RPG with mythology, try for Titan Quest.
