Any tips for a Fallout 1 & 2 noob?

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 1:56 am

I've put many a hour into F3 and FO:NV and while playing NV I got really interested in the lore of Fallout and decided to pick up the Trilogy pack on Ebay for 2 bucks and was wondering if any of you had any tips for a beginner? It should be arriving Tuesday and I imagine I'll be playing it for countless hours afterwards. Thanks for any help.

* Save a LOT in multiple save slots.
* Get the official patch for Fallout 1 and get Killap's patch for Fallout 2: http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=38422
* You could also get Killap's Restoration Project for Fallout 2 but I'd advice to use it on your second character: http://falloutmods.wikia.com/wiki/Killap%27s_Fallout_2_Restoration_Project
* Don't expect Unarmed, Melee, Energy Weapons, Throwing and Big Guns to be as easy to get a hold of or use as in the newer games, energy weapons and big guns are fairly limited, expensive and will be hard to get for your first character.
* So I suggest you go Small Guns as it's the easiest one for your first character.
* It's best to not lower any of your stats to 2 or 1. (SPECIAL)
* Focus on your Tag skill first.
* Read the dialogue, journals and text in the info-box on your lower left.
* There is strength in numbers.

That's what I got at the moment.
Hope you enjoy the antiques.

Can step you through the basics.

You may run into issues with some Discolouration, but there's a load of threads in this board that have possible solutions as well as good character builds.
