Any UpdateFix - Confidence Man invincibility

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 3:09 am

Any idea when we can look to see this resolved? I'd rather not have to go back hours of game time to start before the quest.

Anyone been able to figure out how to fix it with console codes?

Tried every console command there is but nothing. In Skyrim and Fallout 3, 'setessential 7 0' seemed to do the trick but not in this game.

Tried contacting Bethesda support and got an automatic response that did not answer my question. It's absurd!

We're investigating the issue.

Out of curiosity, are you all using console commands?

I was about to go back to an earlier save, before I started this mission.. But I found out I had to go back over 10 hours of gameplay.. Seems like all my quicksaves have been just 1 saveslot and been overwritten all the time.

Like hell I'm gonna go back that many hours. Guess I'll be going outside until this gets fixed.

I have not used any console commands in fallout 4 before this issue.

After it occurred I tried tgm on and off, but that didn't work. I have not tried any others. Though I did read online where someone completed the quest with console commands. However Travis still followed them around and they remained invincible.

Also, from what I understand the issue starts during the bar fight. During the bar fight the two guys are marked as essential along with the main character but it never gets turned off.

I didn't notice it until the hostage part because I never died in between those periods.

I too have just discovered this issue.

Don't know how long I've had it. About 12 hours in and have done a load of other quests since accepting the Confidence Man quest. Can't remember what ones exactly. I foolishly only have quicksaves so would have to lose ~10hours play to load a save from before this quest.

In response to Gstaff, I haven't used any console commands, even in an attempt to fix this issue.

I just used a command to bypass the mission, and complete it. I got rid of Travis following me, but my character can't die!!
I just need a command to make my character able to die. And also i noticed that the owner of the inn dissapeared (the kidnaped guy)..

So it would be great if you guys give me some kind of command to set the "essential" of my character back to 0.

I will keep playing, but i am "inmortal", anyways i couldnt save the game before the brawl fight, but i saved inside the building where i can't kill enemies neither save the kidnaped guy.

Thanks i hope you find a fix for this..
I hope you find this details helpfull.
sorry for bad english

So I have managed to remove the invincibility from my player using the console.

Basically I had to reset the quest from console and start it again by talking to Vadim in the Dugout. Travis will kill (when he should just knock them down) Bull and Gouger in the Dugout. Complete the quest from Console at this stage.

No idea what state this has left my save in. Took a backup before attempting any console commands. Attempt at your own risk.

Could you link the reddit post here? I can't seem to find it.

I'll try this method on a new save, just to be safe.

Found the reddit post. And the method worked! Let's just hope that with the next patch other problems such as these don't occur.

Tried that reddit post. But it doesn't work on my save because i entered a command to bypass the mission...

Anyways the problem will be fixed if bethesda just tell me the propper command to set my character un-essential again...
So i can finally die.

I am trying --- setEssential player 0 but it doesn't work because it says player its not an actor...

Here's a link to the Reddit post : www . reddit . com/r/Fallout/comments/3sm76q/potential_confidence_man_quest_bug_console/

I tried it and it gave me big hopes as everything i wrote in console worked, except the "resetquest" and "setstage" command.. Now I have a frozen hostile Bull and Gouger in the entrance of the bar, a smiling Yafir that says good thing we found the killer and a mission I can't complete or abandon.

Oh, and I still can't die.. Now when my health reaches 0 it goes straight up to 100% again. Yay.

So i tried EVERYTHING and there is no point. No solution.

I have bypassed the mission by entering the command completequest MS14.

The problem can't be fixed because there is no command to remove the essential from the reference of my player...
If bethesda post here some kind of command to do that, it would be awesome..

Or you can try to patch the game, by forcing that essential from the player to 0.

If i try --- setEssential 7 0 it just work on the baseID (all my clones created from that baseID), but it doens't work on the ReferenceID (ME, my actual character).

I also recycleactor player setting the essential of BASEID to 0, and it doesn't work, because player.isEssential shows 1 = TRUE.
