So, any VATS adjustment mods yet?

Post » Tue Aug 25, 2009 11:06 pm

From what my strategy guide says, VATS was "Fixed" to remove the massive damage reduction in it.

This of course made me a sad panda. :(

I primarily use VATS to shoot people and things. Knowing now that it's just like not using VATS makes me sad.
Edit: Forgot the other uses of VATS. Doh.

So, TL;DR, any mods that change VATS back to the way it should be?
If it's an easy fix, maybe I'll download the editor and fix it.

Then again, I think Sumerian is probably easier for me to understand than the GECK.

For the record, I play on Easy. Like I did in Fallout 3.
The game is easy on Easy, well, duh, but it's not the same without VATS reducing damage. missile Launcher + your face = bad day without reduction of damage.
And could someone link me somewhere where Obsidian actually said they would take that part out? Because I really missed something...
Mind you I haven't even played that long yet, about an hour, but the point remains...

There are a lot more reasons to use VATS other than damage reduction

- no need to be good at aiming
- your stats decide your hit rate, not your mouse skills
- some perks only work in vats
- you have time to stop and think

etc.

Yeah, I forgot about those to be honest. I was tired when I wrote my message. Don't you hate writing things when you're tired? :)

But I still think the damage reduction shouldn't have been changed.
So, if you, or someone else can point out to me if a mod has been made, or how easy it is to make a mod that fixes the Damage reduction, let me know.

Have you played the game? I think you do pretty much as much damage in VATS as you do outside VATS. I was able to one-shot most things once I got slightly better gear.

You take 75% damage in VATS, in Fallout 3 you took 10% only. On easy you take 75% damage and deal 150%. Maybe New Vegas is much harder than Fallout 3, but come on, it's only hard on beginning, I have 16th level and 25 hours played and I'm almost immortal in Combat Armor and Sniper Rifle (I'm playing on Normal and really rarely use VATS). So be a true man and don't whine :D

EDIT: But if you want to change damage taken in VATS then go to GECK -> Gameplay -> Settings and find fVATSPlayerDamageMult it should be at 0.75 in Fallout New Vegas, but if you change it to 0.10 then it will be 10% (like was in Fallout 3).

Thank you, Kotleck, for telling where it was to change.
Now, to get the Geck and change it back to Fallout 3 level usefullness. :)

And sorry if you thought I was whining.

Also, not all of us are 1337. Some of us aren't the best ever when it comes to action games, and need all the advantage you can get.
Also, 75% damage from bad guys isn't that big of a drop. :)
