I am looking for a way to get back into Saarthal to complete the Forbidden Legend quest. I completed the Mage guild quest Under Saarthal a while back but now I can't get back in because of the part where the gates shut on you and you have to use the amulet.

I am pretty sure I looted everything when I was in there the first time but do not have that piece of the amulet anywhere. I also remember there was a different exit after you cleared it but have no clue where that was or if it is even possible to get back there?

Any help would be great. Had this quest locked up for quite some time now .... Playing on the Xbox 360. Thanks a lot!

Well, at least you said you're on a console, before I offered the obligatory "coc in using the console"! When you come out of the final chamber (with Jyrik and the Orb) you're actually above the interior "stairs/ramps" down to the first room (I think - I could go coc in and check if you need me to....) Now, even if you can get back in through that door, since Jyrik's long dead, not sure that you're going to be able to get the amulet hunk anyway.... It was on him IIRC - so if it WASN'T on him - maybe if you didn't have the Gauldur Amulet quest at that time, it was just a generic Draugr Deathlord instead of Jyrik, and if you can get back in there now with the quest active, Jyrik might be there.

And that's a LOT of "ifs, ands, buts, and maybes". Let me know if you want me to see if you can get back in through the final exit....

Damn, now I'm gonna' have to check to see if I can get back in there. So far the deep reaches of Irknthand was the only place I knew of that 'locked' us out.

I just went back and got all the way to the room where the Eye of Magnus was. Only one gate was shut, but it had one of those high-security levers right beside it that opened it.

Thanks for the replies. I went back yet again ... Both gates still shut and I see no lever what so ever. Unless I am just totally missing it. However, thanks for the tip Serethil! I had no clue that door in the first room was the one that led back to the Eye room. I was able to jump back up there and get back in and poor Jyrik was still there. Still dead. But now with the third piece and the writ. Thanks so much!

You can use Whirlwind Sprint to bridge the gap between the main room of Saarthal that you start out in (before you start going down to the ground level) and the doorway that leads to the Eye of Magus. I had to do this to go back and get the Galdur staff I had forgotten.

As far as I know the only way into Sarthal is via the mage quest for the first go around because the main door requires a key and you have to be on the quest, therefore Jyrik wil be the end boss. If you have the Forbidden Legends quest in your journal you would have had to have read the note that was on Jyrik, is it in you journal? (If this quest starts up from other locations then disregard, but I've not seen it start elswehere). Also, because I'm not sure which fragment you found first, could it be that one of the 2 fragments you possess is from Jyrik and you still need to find the 3rd from one of the other locations? Curious to see if we can't get you goin' again!

P.S. The amulet to open the "door" as part of the quest line is Saarthal Amulet, not the fragment of Galdur. When wearing the Saarthal amulet you must cast a spell at the door to break it.

Yep got back through there in the door at the beginning. Felt rather silly I forgot that's where I came out at. At first glance I didn't think I could get to it but was able to jump up from the side. Jyrik was still inside still dead and now had the third piece. Quest completed and a many thanks to all!
