Any way to remove this pixelated effect (is it DoF?)

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 2:59 pm

Not sure what http://i.imgur.com/GS6yjCE.png effect is... but its terrible. I thought it may be a part of sweetfx reshade i was using but after removing it, its still there (just a bit more blurry since the SFX adds sharpening to it)

Does anyone know what this is?

kept getting an error when i tried to add the image using bbcode, so a link will have to do. here is the link again:

Well the effect is dithering. It's appearing around the edges, so possibly some borked up anti-aliasing technique?

It seems that it only does it in certain situations/objects/distances/etc.

I deselected "god rays" (or something similar) and it got rid of it. for some reason, you have to select the "low" graphic quality in setup, deselect the godray thing and then you turn up the other gfx qualities as you like, then it should be fine. (AMD excalibur card)

ok thanks ill try that. I wonder what settings it is changing in the ini that are responsible for it. everything is in the ini file, but you have to figure out which settings go to which UI setting

thanks for the reply

It is Godray set to low. The quality option of godray seems to only affect exactly this, you don't get stronger/more godrays. The effect cost some gpu power on higher quality so you'll have to decide if you can live with an occasional pixelized contours or lower framerate ;)
