Doubtful, considering the direction that Fallout Of Duty is taking.

I don't think it will be in. But yeah, I would love to have it. Fallout NV did it ok. And to be honest, while I never go for this hardcoe stuff, I did find it really fitting for the Fallout theme.

Can you elaborate a bit on what has led you to this conclusion?

I would be a little saddened if this was the case. It really did add a lot to New Vegas.

But if not, I'm sure some modder will pick up the mantle. I'm patient.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Bethesda doesn't seem interested in any sort of survival aspects, which is strange considering this is a post-apocalyptic game, but there you go.

Edit: and this would be a bit difficult to mod in as well. Every piece of food added by any other mod would not be automatically compatible with a hardcoe mode mod, for example. Any mod that alters the way food or drink works would be incompatible. Any mod that adds new areas may or may not have enough places to sleep, or any food or drink at all. It would require a lot of "compatability patches" for dozens of mods.

At the least, all I ask is that food and drink come with some sort of gain or boost that makes them useful rather than HP recovery.

A mod did it for FO3. It probably wouldn't be too long before someone does it. I prefer the simplicity on NV hardcoe needs. There will probably a mod for micromanaging you nutrient intake too, like in the last four games ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if food gives you some "plus HP" or "Plus AP" buffs, but I highly doubt we'll see anything more in depth than that.

What we have officially is this quote:

https://twitter.com/DCDeacon/status/613517721989476352

from Pete Hines:

"We'll let you know when the team is ready to talk about modes and difficulty levels. Pass it on."

Interesting choice of words. So yes there could be something like a hardcoe mode, ...... or not  .

ah, classic overreacting fear of change, typical fanbase behaviour.

Not necessarily, there are systems in the editor that mods/DLCs can take advantage of for their functions. Like, so long as the mod-added item was put in the right http://www.creationkit.com/FormList or given the right http://www.creationkit.com/Keyword, a lot of compatibility concerns will be mitigated. My guess is that for the crafting system, clutter items get keywords like Glass, Ceramic, Screws, etc to determine what you can break them down for.

It's really handy.

Right, but then how would they determine how much each individual piece of food from another mod replenishes your hunger? I think it's more complicated than that.

Sounds promising.

If I recall hardcoe mode in NV made you eat and drink and it made stimpacks so that they healed over time instead of instantly.

That was "hardcoe" enough for me.

I also liked the idea that my character would periodically gorge on Sugar Bombs.

The people at Bethesda are astute enough to have long ago observed those aspects of FONV which have been generally regarded as greatly successful. hardcoe mode was one of those aspects (imho). It will receive serious consideration by them at the very least. Personally, my belief is that it will be included at release- or that facilitation will be provided for it to be modded.

The mod would have to support the foods from other mods - or ignore it and then the mod food would have stock behavior.

This has been modded in successfully before. It's not trivial but it's not disallowed either.

In Skyrim there are even mods that simulate temperature, can tell whether you are in proximity to a fire, are wet, or are wearing winter clothes. You can do a lot with scripts.

Personally I hope Bethesda doesn't waste their time on a hardcoe mode.

There are far too many variables to take into account to balance it even halfway decently, and even mods that have years of updating fail to provide the balance, or the tools to balance, hardcoe features in any way that doesn't just feel broken.

That is good news.

But even if they leave it out, the modding community would have several options soon available.

If Bethesda dropped the ball on this I would bet a mod will be created to bring hard core to FO4.

True. I'm not saying it's impossible, just that it's complicated and much less convenient than Bethesda just giving us a hardcoe mode as an option

It would be really stupid of them to take the time to have Codsworth's VA voice a thousand of the most popular names, but not include a hardcoe mode when it was fairly popular in NV. Despite what people think, this game shows evidence of some polishing, which wasn't something in Skyrim or Fallout 3. It seems to me that they took their time with this.

I've seen mods add a generic setting for all mod-added items before. It's not perfect, but mod authors make do. I mostly mentioned keywords and formlists because ohmygod are they handy.

FWE was great to play. Imp's version was to much complication for me as player. To name only the two most popular ones.

It's not that hard todo (and I am talking from experience as moddev).
