Anybody else doesn't use a weapon because of how it looks?

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 3:49 am

So, I am currently playing a sniper playthrough. I am using a Hunting Rifle with a scope, custom bolt and extended mags, and I think it looks really cool. I also wanted to use the ARM, but I found it looked really derpy and akward, so I'm just gonna be using the HR till the rest of the game.

I have two questions: does anybody else not use a weapon because of how it looks, and also, will I have difficulties later on in the game because of that choice?

I do the same with armor and guns... i only rock it, if it looks cool... you will have difficulties later on but you should still be able to get by...

I do tend to favor the aesthetics of things. So far I'm still fancying leather armor since it's much easier on the eyes.

On female characters I don't like the look of big bulky weapons even the HR. The trail carbine is a bit smaller and looks great in a female character.

I'm a big fan of the cowboy perk weapons, but I can't stand how they clip into the riot gear/combat armor outfits, and dusters, when holstered in third person. Its a shame too.So i've been rocking the grunt perk weapons instead, as they don't clip into the bounty hunter duster. The assault carbine with AP rounds will have to save my bacon later on in the game.

Not particularly, if a weapon kicks ass then I'll use it. The YCS/186 is really blocky and ugly, but it is insanely powerful so I use it.

Can't stand the 10mm pistol. It's simply too bulky and too many hard/sharp edges to allow me to believe that it could be drawn easily from a holster. If it was slimmed down a bit and de horned (rounding out the hard angles) and had streamlined irons (the iron sights is one of the harshest porting of the weapon that would snag) then I'd use it. Shame the ingame description of it's rugged bomb proof reliability to with stand harsh punishment doesn't translate to the item HP.

Playing a Snake-esque type character from MGS and I'm wearing Jessup's bandana, authority glasses(would love an eye patch but play on console) and a mix of NCR armor, assassin's suit or desert ranger armor with all-American and A light in shining darkness. Really like the look of him.

With weapons? No.
I use whatever weapon is the best. Though I absolutely loathe the AER/P series design.

As with armor? Yes.
I can't use an armor I think looks ugly, which is why I never use the metal armor or power armor, they just look like [censored] nowadays.
Looked way better in the older Fallouts.

Although when I can get the Enclave Power Armor then I get it. (The FO2 version, not the FO3 version)

Oh yeah, I'll use a lower tier weapon or armor either one if I think it looks cooler than the upper tier stuff.

The Dart Gun rox, but it looks soooo stoooopid. It also has unbelievable range. That surgical tubing sho is strong.

I was geeked when I 1st got the Eybot Helmet. +1 Perception & some drm. Too bad I look like a flippin diver from 1890. Wut a stoooopid lookin' helmet.

Ooooooops. So sorry, forgot I was in New Vegas.

I didn't like the Gun that made music. I think it was a .45 I killed some guitarist for.

The Mysterious Magnum? What's wrong with it?

Do you not/haven't pick the Mysterious Stanger perk?

And I don't care for looks so long as the gun is good. Lucky for me all of the guns that I can buy and find good look nice IMO.

The GRA baseball bat, I tend to favor it over all oddly. Though taking on a death claw was not worth it.

Only when I'm playing in 3rd person.
It looks very awkward with a Fat boy on your back, or even the Tesla Cannon.

Other than that, no. I'll use any weapon no matter the looks of it.

I'm sure it is pretty akward finding a fat boy on your back but I think you mean a Fat Man.

You never know Sebor, he may have abducted a fat boy & slung him over his back.

Possible, with a very strange mod.

Besides the Laser Rifle (AER9), I'm not picky. I rarely use things like the Tesla Cannon, Fat Man, or Anti-Material Rifle, preferring others over them just for whatever I'm playing as, but I'm not picky on aesthetics.

If it'll get the job done, it's likely I'll pick it up and use it.
