Well I'd assume if you use PSN it would be free besides the cost of the game. If you used XBL you of course have to subscribe to XBL but if you are a PC user then you just use your internet connection I imagine. It's not world of warcraft.

And whatever your local broadband IP costs as well. So it's not completely free. But considering all those costs that you already pay I don't think Splash Damage is going to try to milk you for anymore money then the cost of the game. Besides future DLC. Which we will pay for and love it.

Edit: Apologies for the double post.

It's an Fps, I don't think that there's any FPS out there that charges a monthly fee. There are also no micro transactions (like buying a gun with real money)

There will be soon. It seems that EA is deciding to put a monthly fee on their new games beginning with Battlefield: Bad Company 3. I think its dumb but whatever....

EA's been getting weird with their online play. I know for Dead Space 2 you have to use a card provided with the game, otherwise you have to use Microsoft Points.
The same goes with NHL 11 except it's a code on the manual.

It's there way to counter Gamefly - you can't play online unless you buy it.

Which is ridiculously stupid. If I can't play the game to see if I want it, then I'm not buying it. And even if I DO buy it, I have to buy it new which just adds to the stupidity.

Dead Space 2 comes with a free trial of online for X amount of time. This is probably what EA will do - free trials for everyone, but unlimited online only for those who buy.

Yeah but you can't buy any EA games used that have multiplayer. They're basically raising a high finger to those of us who don't exactly have a large gaming budget.

A lot of Publishers are getting greedy and don't care anymore (Activision, EA). The only thing they see is dollar-signs and you know what? They'll probably end up like to music and film industry. (Yes, I know games get pirated already, but the more money they ask, the more attractive pirating becomes.)

It's Battlefield 3, not Bad Company 3. Bad Company is sort of a spin off of BF.

Wasn't the point of Bad Company to test out the Frostbite engine?

So we know it's free, but what about those anti-used games things?
(I always buy games new, but I'm just curious)

And when did BF3 became P2P?

Well, you know, you could always get a ps3 and sell your 360, then online is free :)

Also the bad company sub-series is finished for what i heard, battlefield 3 is the next thing.

Yes, but Bad company 2 was ment to further develop it (Frostbite 2.0), but bad company 2 was actually fun unlike the first which i got bored of after i beat single player and played a few matchs online.

And networks like alterIWnet will be sprouting all over the place.
