Anyone at BethesdaObsidian care to explain why no perks for

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 1:08 am

Okay, first of all I'm not complaining about the amount of perks lights armors got, what I'm wondering though is why medium and heavy armors didn't get the same treatment.
I mean, whry create such cool medium armors (no heavies on the contrary...that Gecko backed doesn't really count) if no one's gonna wear them?
What, they've got a little more DT? big deal. Some of them can give you a boost in some stat/skill? often useless.
But what pisses me off the most is the speed malus of those armors, it's running underwater, I hate it with all my soul and I can't believe they never included at least one perk or one medium armor that could affect that malus.

I guess, we'll never know why but since we're probably not getting anymore new perks, I wanted at least give my opinion about it.

Medium armor at least has sweet stats and high DT. This counter balances the relatively low DT that all the light armors with good stats have.
Heavy armor though? That crap svcks.

Damn, I was unaware of that !

Oh well, I guess it doesn't bother people as much as I thought, time to put that Elite Riot Suit in the wardrobe I guess.

I only wear heavy armor when I need the higher DT. When I do that, I accept the trade-off of speed in favor of protection.

It's funny you should say big deal when talking about getting more DT... because getting more DT kind of IS a big deal.

A difference of 3 - 5 DT doesn't feel like a big deal to me, 10 would be a big deal, but then, against certain enemies who can bypass your DT not sure if the malus speed helps.

They can't make it as good as should be according to the lore because then all challenge would be removed from the game except for people with nuclear ordnance and deathclaws.

The medium and especially heavy armors have the advantage for a good portion of the game but once enemies have teir 5 equipment DT doesn't help much taking 40 dmg off of a 120 dmg hit means your still taking 80 dmg thats for heavy with light lets say your taking off 18 so your taking 102 dmg so in heavy armor you might be able to take 1 maybe 2 extra hits depending on your total health not much of an advantage later on, early game though you can just take a ridiculous amount of hits.

What keeps me from wearing the Medium/Heavy Armor is the stuff is brick heavy. If there was a perk to cut the weight of those armors in half I would deal with the slower movement speed.

I use Heavy Armor for the extra bonus it provides (2 STR is an example), not the DT.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/In_Shining_Armor

It really only applies to certain medium/heavy armors, but it applies to medium/heavy armors.

They didn't give any real reason to wear heavy armors, you can get medium armors that have the same amount of dt as heavy armors.

Screw stats, It may sound single-minded, but I just go with whatever armour I like the look of.

No point in being a badass if you can't at least look like one.

Seconded I use the Elite Riot Armor and Scorched Sierra Armor just because they look badass. Even if they had 0 DT and no special effects i'd still wear 'em.
