I don't think people realize that if there were absolutely no level scaling, it would basically be a linear game, no like the Elder Scrolls series.
truth static levels and item belong to linear rpgs like Final Fantasy no to open worlds ones like the Elder Scrolls series.

Isnt that limiting yourself? You can still be a paladin as in a do gooder, save the kidnapped girl, kill the bandids who threaten the village etc. But for example a paladin would never use a bow. What if you want to be a paladin and use a bow, what if i want to be a paladin who sneaks. Not happening sir, because you have no archery skill as the "class" is limiting you to use what you want.

Thank you I understand you now. Simply we want different things from this game (which should be RPG ;) ). Still I don't see where is the problem. I to want not very usefull skills like: speechcraft, horse riding, climbing and so which you probably will never use but will help me for my RP.

Levelscalling makes the game easier. You can beat almost everything up at level 1. And nothing changes as you level.
in TES we supposed to go to a location went ever we want no to wait to level to lv.14 just to go to that mountain or dungeon.

I'm not disappointed by anything so far. This game is already a major improvement over Oblivion in every way.

Finally I'll have the ability to start bar fights by dropping garbage anywhere I go, a long-awaited improvement.

I am VERY disappointed. Not in the info that IS released, but disappointed that almost nothing has been released to the big public yet.

I bet that the percentage of TES players that got GI legally, is VERY small. Why are they holding back info to their main customer base? I know it is a money thing, but Beth give me some info!

If the combat feels good, then 10 minutes of that could still be enjoyable.

difficulty slider help on that.

Morrowind had some level scaling, and I didn't mind it. Maybe they really fixed it this time, heres for hoping.

And I like the dual wielding.

The only thing that really disappointed me was removing Mysticism...
This could mean less spell effects, which is sad for us mages...
Even if there are more spell effects, somehow, I will miss my Mysticism. It was one of the cooler spell schools...

[SNIP]

Nag nag nag.

It seems that for some people Bethesda just can't seem to do it right.

I seriously hope for you you're planning on getting Skyrim for the PC so the mods can address all your little nit pickings. And if the information you get 10 months before the game comes out is already enough to make you not want to buy it... no big loss to Bethesda it seems.

And Bethesda (in the very slim chance that they read this)... you guys.... ROCK ON. :mohawk:

I doubt the leveling system will be the same as Oblivion's, especially after all they learned from Fallout 3/NV and fan complaints. CHilax

Seriously.... when did level scaling from a randomly generated quest=the whole game is level-scaled?

And I really like all the info so far. Eagerly awaiting more.

What! Randomly generated quests! This just keeps getting worse...

Agreed. I trust their judgement and believe that everything they're doing is for the greater good of the game. They never disapointed me before, and I doubt they will with Skyrim.

i am pretty sure those are no replacing the old traditional side quests ,they just will be there so even if you beat every main quest and side quest you can do stuff for people.

I'm angry that they've removed some skills & added perks. It seems as if they're trying to remove role-playing elements of the game and make TESV more of a Fallout 3/NV-esque game.

I guess that is why they have added more realistic NPC behaviour that you can affect in addition choices and consequences in the story. That is very little RPG-like, isn't it?

Yeah, it's much better to run out of them. Or know precisely where to find powerful stuff because you've played the game before.

Dissapointed? Hell no! I just can't stop orgisming!

I'm sorry but this made me laugh til I peed.

as for the thread, it all looks very promising so far and the OP's worries seem to be based on speculation. I'm sure there will be epic goodies and plenty of badass boss fights (its full of DRAGONS for goshsakes!)

First I was really excited, but then I remembered how much the developers lied about Oblivion. I hope they haven't this time, but perhaps that is too much to hope for.

Adding perks is removing a roleplay element? *confused*

Its not that they lied, its they were developing a game for a system that wasn't available yet. They had to remove some things because they didn't know it wouldn't work properly, like AI. But that seems to be improving.

Yeap. Pete Hines wrote in his twitter: "If you think Radiant Story is "randomly generated quests" then you misunderstand what it is."
I think it is a quests & situations generator which is based on some sets of rules.

And that phrase in the GI article: "We got rid off mysticism, and moved some of that stuff around. The magical school of mysticism Isn't that redundant?"

I won't be surprised to see something like this: "We got rid off heroe's left hand and moved some of that stuff around. The left hand. Isn't that redundant?" :hubbahubba:

Its not that they lied, its they were developing a game for a system that wasn't available yet. They had to remove some things because they didn't know it wouldn't work properly, like AI. But that seems to be improving.

I don't think you're right. They could just make an option enable/disable dynamic shadows and that's it. Oblivion wasn't optimized well enough. You can reverse rendering process in Oblivion. And you'll see that it is just "omg wtf is this stuff?!?!?".

Why is everyone so worried about level scaling? What RPG DOESN'T have level scaling?? It's about how they impliment it, and from all the complaints regarding Oblivion I am sure that they have tweaked it based on those complaints.
