Anyone dislike being able to tell who is good and bad?

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 12:48 am

Like, I can plainly see that the NCR are the "better" guys than the Caesars Legion people. I planned on playing a good character but.. I feel pigeon holed into being a part of the NCR though... like in terms of goodness the NCR is good compared to caesars legion. Over taxing vs slavery.. hmmm yeah, I am sure the slavery is more evil.

Any suggestions? I wanted to be a good guy.. but in the legion. Is this stupid?

They haven't told us who's good or bad. They've shoved the idea that they're all morally gray down our throats instead. :D

Nope, I hate it when it's black and white.
Love the different shades of gray in between.

No, this is false, the entire point of the game is that its not clear who is bad or good, I can guarantee that there will be stuff to hate the NCR for as well as like, same for ceaser's and House.

They both have bad things and good things about them. It is up to you (or your character) to determine who to follow. If you think CL approach is the best, then do it. You can also go through alone or with House.

It svcks if you don't want to think about it too hard, but the factions is all about if you agree with their side of the coin. Both will probably do things that are really repulsive to you and clash with your moral code, but in a wasteland it's about surviving and living with the lesser evil. That lesser evil being what you decide it is. Or you can just say screw'em and ignore them. No moral clash there.

I don't think you guys quite see the point. Yeah I know there are grey areas between the factions. But.. the NCR's grey shade is much lighter than caesars you know? I actually don't see how caesars legion could be good in anyway actually.

Depends. The man could be using a slave force to rebuild the world and release them afterward. NOBODY ever got anything done by playing nice, it's just how the world is. The NCR might look cool up front but when you get into it, it could just be government control, big brother, shady deals under the table and all other sort of secret government nonsense.

I will never, ever trust a government completely most of the time they don't have the people at heart.

And that's the point the game is trying to make I believe. Everyone sees things differently. Someone may think NCR=Bad and CL=Good. That's why they made the factions gray so you can decide whose black or white but give them flaws to each side.

Only in America could taxation be viewed as being a greater evil than slavery and crucifixions.

To say NCR is the 'better' or 'lighter' shade of grey depends on personal morales. NCR may not use slavery, a commonly hated trade. But they are definitely not above funding a proxy war just to force people to join them.

but the NCR is blatantly more good than caesars legion. right? I don't know.. I will have to see when I get the game.. It just seems CL are the bad guys and Mr house is just some neutral chump

They both are going for the same thing, but have different methods of achieving it. The whole Legion slavery thing isn't that bad, some of those people had a horrible life before and now they've been brought into a organized faction with the potential of becoming a part of it. You'll find NCR has a dark side to them too.

They've only told us what's good and bad about the NCR. They've told us what's bad about CL, and basically nothing about Mr. House. I think that even though NCR appears much better at the moment, once we get in game there will be aspects of the other factions we hadn't considered yet.

I agree with most of the other people in the thread, the devs claim that there is no moral high ground among the groups but it is obvious they intended NCR to be the moral group. It doesn't bother me all that much though.

Oh, all governments do crap like that. Well, maybe except Canada. Point is, an aggressive foreign policy doesn't make a government evil.

They are not BLATANTLY good, in your OPINION they are blatantly good. In my opinion Caesars Legion are just a bunch of skirt wearing brigands, but I still respect their sense of honor.

@Gilliant- I think thats on purpose. Alot of people might likely go 'Oh these guys are like Fallout 3's BoS.' but then they get deeper into the game and realize the sinister and corrupt things NCR.

@Revenginator- Just because alot of kids beat up on the new kid, doesnt mean it's any more okay for you to do it too.

Well the Romans, who CL is trying to emulate, were an extremely successful civilization for a long time, and their society had slaves everywhere. That is one reason why somebody might think CL is a good choice. It doesn't matter. If you don't like what CL is doing, then don't support them.

The legion is not mad depending on your prefrences. Just wait for the game to come out, you will find out info about each group. They are all bad, and good. Just depends on how you look at them.
