Is anyone else annoyed there's still a few things they left

I know NV is done, no more DLC. That's all fine and dandy, but I've noticed a few bugs that should be patched, namely quests with unremovable quest items, which gets tedious for your invo and its clutter. I've experienced a few in game bugs as well, but they were usually minimal, like dead enemies clipping and etc. Anywho, shouldnt Obsidian at least put out a new patch for some of these bugs?

The unremovable items isn't a bug... they work exactly as they're meant to. It's an oversight that they don't make sure to remove every quest item no matter how you resolve its associated quest, but even in the case of quest items that don't have a quest associated with them or where they forgot to remvoe the quest item flag upon completion, the quest item is still functioning buglessly. Regardless, I'm a fan of the unremovable quest items. They don't weigh anything (yes, they tell you their weight, but it doesn't actually count towards your weight limit) and they can't be taken from you, so it's gear (albeit generally svcky) that you can take anywhere without bastard NPCs stealing it from you (like, say, when you head to the Sierra Madre).

Clipping issues are either design issues (weapon on back versus the clothes you're wearing) or physics issues (object/corpse/whatever shoved through a rock/wall/whatever), the former of which takes planning to avoid in the first place, the latter of which is likely outside the control of Obsidian (or likely even Bethesda; it's probably all Havoc's creator's fault).

Sooo... quest items are too inconsequential to waste time on and clipping is too much work to waste time on.

What? I dont mean things like NCR Radio, I mean things like Bennys Lighter and the cigaretter butts that are not removed upon completion of the quest, despite working in the original base game. That is a bug, and for people with OCD tendencies that can be very frustrating seeing as it serves no purpose as anything more than clutter.

It's not a bug though, just an oversight. A bug would imply something not working as expected. Items that are flagged as quest items cannot be dropped: they're working as expected, regardless of if you expect them to be flagged as quest items. If a non-quest-item-flagged item couldn't be dropped, or a quest-item-flagged item could be dropped, those would be bugs. If a quest neglects to remove the quest item flag from a type of item, that's human error, an oversight in quest design, not a bug (again, unless it's actually the game failing to remove the quest item flag when told to which would be a bug, but that's not the case). I suppose if it's a logic error in quest design (like a poorly designed if block) it would be a bug, but an omission entirely of the script to remove the quest item flag wouldn't be a bug.

A good example of a bug in New Vegas would be the IsDLCInstalled script function, which apparently doesn't work, and so the script that monitors the 4 pre-order packs addition/removal doesn't actually function properly.

Unless it's a multiplayer game like Team Fortress or Left 4 Dead that has a large fanbase that continues to play their games and the developers don't pull out a sequel out of their ass every 2 years then the developers are at some point going to move on to other projects.
It's sad but they need to start developing new games, playtest them and check everything through QA. Might not have time to spend on previous titles.

A final patch would be fantastic but it's not going to happen.

Not gonna lie, I don't give a cap about clipping, that doesnt bug me, I just wish they'd correct the quest items stuck in the invo, benign to normal people, but when you're obsessive compulsive about organization and clearing out nonessential gear, it's VERY mind gnawing.

I still have yet to complete the quest The White Wash because of a series of bugs. Not too happy about that.

See I'm exactly the other way around, I could care less about pointless quest items being stuck in my inventory, but clipping just annoys the crap out of me. Unfortunately it doesn't really matter though, Gamebryo is always going to have stupid little bugs like that and no matter how many patches they put out for it there's still going to be little problems like that.

My OCD tendencies push me in exactly the opposite way; I sought out every quest item possible that would be stuck in my inventory. I like things that are impossible to lose. In Diablo 1, for example, I cheated all of my items to be indestructible (the ''of the Ages'' suffix, when legitimate), not because I was fond of cheating, but because of an irrational fear of losing an item if its durability ran out (for those who don't know, in Diablo 1, when an item ran out of durability and broke it was totally destroyed).

See
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/GBRM2KX_memory_chip
as an example of an item I sought out precisely because it would stay with me forever.

There are still broken quests in the game. There are item stacking bugs and merchant inventory bugs. And you're bothered by quest items sticking around?

There's a console command that allows the OCD sufferers to clear the quest flag off items and make the droppable.

P.S. Why is it impossible to patch the DLCs, I wonder? I wouldn't even ask for ironing out ALL of the wrinkles, but the spawning mechanics are absurd.

I'm more furstrated at the spawning bugs. Man-Machine Interface is basically impossible if your trying to find robots in the mohave except for the Crashed Vertibird, and even if you pass on through that area, the robots don't respawn, therfore ruining that chance to get lvl.3 star achievment for console players without killing Legion or NCR named people.

I wish the lag issues with the PS3 could be better, but they did what they could.

There are a couple things like quest items and other small stuff that are bothersome, but nothing of major importance. Other than that I can't think of anything else that sticks out at me.

And I'd certiantly use that console command, but PS3 users don't have access to the console commands

Yep, but what can we do?

Bethesda knew about the bugs. If I remember correct, Bergman or Sawyer said that the way the system worked, Obsidian was tasked with tracking down the bugs and creating a list of the known ones, but they needed the green light from Bethesda to actually fix them. (I assume otherwise, they wouldn't be paid and Bethesda would refuse to publish the patch under their name) This is why basic bugs (like Boone's head-tracking) were never fixed because they don't seem worth the effort (or the pay).

For what it's worth, the only major bugs I have on my game (Steam downloaded on a very simple computer that can run at max graphics settings but isn't outstanding; I'm not one of those guys with a custom-built comp that can do anything, I just barely meet the max graphics requirements) are that the Gomorrah will permanently confiscate companion weapons and I'll need to make sure Loyal is NOT in the Hangar upon turning in Volare! or else he won't be in the game world when the hangar resets. Other than that, absolutely no major problems, so while I know some Xbox and PS3 users do still have lag issues and broken quests, they DID make some effort to fix the bugs, cause they were fixed on PC. (for most of us)

If it helps PC users, I know Josh Sawyer said a while ago that he was making his own mod to fix some of the bugs that were never green lighted during production and he MIGHT release it to the public. Dunno if he'll ever release it, but you could try asking on his formspring, or at least keep an eye on it. Not much, but at the same time, not many developers would bother to fix bugs off the clock, so I think it's a nice gesture, regardless of if he's doing it because he feels it'd be wrong to leave it undone or if he simply wants to play his own game.

It sounded to me more like it was his personal gameplay balance tweaks, but I must admit I didn't scrutinize what he wrote closely.

I just got stuck inside of some rocks. Very frustrating, and as a newbie...well...it's very frustrating. Had some good kills and took my time and well, like I said. It was all wasted time after I was INSIDE the side of the hill... Who am I kidding...I'm really ticked off.

edit: So I started up another game and how did it end? I'm stuck on a board. Can't move....Another waste of time... I'm am really sick of this.

The only thing that used to annoy me was Motor-Runners Helmet not getting removed but luckily they patched that. Though fixing the clipping would be kind of nice.

I just want to know why the damn Rocket Souvenirs are marked as Quest Items. There are an unlimited amount of them, and they would make marvelous room decorations if I could only drop them.

What made me raising my eyebrows is that they actually managed to introduce *new* bugs in some of their patches.
When I got to Primm a couple of days before, I had to realize, that Nash wouldn't leave the damn casino anymore after completing *My kind of town*.
This is really annoying, because I used to trade a lot with him. He's been a good source of magazines, too. Now, he's disabled.
Srsly? Don't they have playtesters over there at Bethesda/Obsidian?

They need to fix the issue with the damn game freezing after playing for 20 mins on PS3. Ever since I downloaded the DLC the game has been moving extremely slowly and after 15 or 20 mins, just freezes. Very frustrating!!!

this is patch 1.07 which unfortunately is needed for the DLC and increases in frequency the higher you level up

this is the only thing that has pissed me off because I'm maxed out and idolized by everyone except the Powder Gangers and Khans so I started over (again) thinking it was a error in my profile and currently got up to level 37 again
