Anyone else disappointed the institute isn't canadian?

It's important to remember that the Fallout world is different than the real world. In fallout prior to the great war Canada was annexed by America. In addition to a ton of soldiers running around there were Canadian insurgents due to American occupation. Plenty of guns to pick up in addition to any factions that may be making new ones.

Speak for yourself :gun:

Canada in the 50's was more gun friendly then it is now, but even now guns are more popular than one would think give the stereotypical Canadian people often imagine. That would have carried on well to 2077.

And lets not forget the American take over of Canada. Many Canadians would pick up a gun to fight. Hence the America's http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Canada?file=Fo1_Intro_Canadian_Freedom_Fighter.png during the Fallout Introduction. There was clearly a resistance in Canada. We even have Randell Clark tell us that there were "criminal" things going on. One would guess that it was public executions on live TV and such.

Also when America finally annexed Canada... The 2nd amendment would apply to Canadians as well. At least I would imagine it would.

What would Canadian kidnapping be?

Do they just ask you once nicely, and then when you say no ask you nicely once again and offer you some maple syrup in a coffee cup?

I like the game sets in America. It's just a setting I like for Fallout series. I hope it stays that way.

Canada is America in the Fallout Universe. Canada and America have similar cultures despite what many people would like to think. The two nations have the longest undefended boarder in the world. That I am sure would have started to change around the Resource Wars.

I can see how people would think it would be a radical departure to see Canada in Fallout if they just go off of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpUxN2TpBnE Or worse go full blown South Park.

I forgot about US annexing Canada eh. Still we have better beer and POUTINE! I am wondering, did US attack Canada so they can make Celine Dion American, or was that Justin Beiber? :P

Not sure if you are American or not, but a lot of people around the world would love for something to take place outside of the U S of A. :P It would be great to see Niagara Falls. The Canadian side of course. :P

Seriously though, I am shocked New York hasn't been done. I wonder if Bethesda stays away from New York City so it doesn't get compared from Escape from New York.

Here is one, What is the difference between an New Yorker and a Canadian? New Yorkers have As before every sentence while us Canadians end every sentence with a Eh.

For me the only problem with Fallout Canada is the presumed lack of Vaults. I'm assuming that if there are vaults at all a different company (or the government) made them. On the other hand some of these vault "experiments" are getting a bit over the top so it might be good to move away from that anyway, at least for one game.

Canada might actually be better off than America. It would actually be funny if there is a Ronto DLC and Canada is more advanced than the Institute. How all the other countries are perfectly fine with America and China being quarantined and the events inside America and China are televised to the rest of the world. Canada might be hit by a few nuclear missiles due to being annexed by America and its proximity to America, but it certainly wouldn't be as nuked as America was. Australia, Western Europe, Argentina, and Southern Africa should not have suffered any serious effects from the Great War.

That would be a good idea, but Fallout 1 lays out pretty clearly that it's a global thing.

It's more about the setting, like Jade Empire should only set in themed places like China. It's just the setting and the commentary on the location. I just find the theme to be fitting. The game is commentary and parody of the America in the 50s'. I like the theme and I like the music as well as the setting.

I think Ronto (presumably Toronto) will likely be featured at some point, given that Bethesda went out of their way to mention it in The Pitt in the vein of locations like The Commonwealth, and The Capital Wasteland.

Hell, might even be a feature of a DLC in Fallout 4. Who knows?

Toronto was also mentioned in a round about way in New Vegas. Randell Clark's Rifle came from an armory in Toronto.

Also even if Canada didn't have guns (which it definitely did) then guns would logically have started to arrive in Canada by way of trade and just being manufactured (Pipe guns anyone?).

"The Institute" coupled with advanced robotics- MIT is the first place my head goes.

Besides, what synths would need to flee Canadians? "Must.. escape this.. oppressive politeness..."

I keed.

There are plans in the Canadian Military that use politeness to conquer the world. The simulations look promising. The Canadian attack has already begun. Celine Dion was our first weapon against the world and Justin Bieber is just the latest weapon. We had some problems with his software, but the firmware update looks to be a success for now.

By the way, Canada and US doesn't made an "union" in Fallout world? I don't know if it is true, but I read somewhere that they've united in one new country to fight against China before the Great War. No?

Why is this even an issue? Didn't the US forcibly annex the Canooks before the glorious fallout of 2077?

If it were set in Canada. All four factions would shake hands, and no war would occur, so there would be no Fallout 4. :(
