anyone else fear for online?

so one of my fears about online or the game in general is that it is only 8v8 so I am wondering how much action there really will be. This partially comes from what I prefer in games, MAG being my favorite game which has a lot of players compared to any console FPS, however I don't think you need a ton of players to have an action packed game. What worries me is that these 8v8 games are already kind of small, then to add to it you have 4 different classes going off to kind of "do their own missions". So lets assume a perfect balance of 2 for every class for both factions, it seems like if you had two engineers going to do some objective that maybe the engineers on the other team would have to try to defend or obtain as well then maybe a 2v2 gunfight is not all that significant. I don't know if what i said makes sense or if my worries are unsound, but just something to add to the fire..

Nothing to worry about, and I have complete faith in the developers. Remember the tagline for the game ®evolution? Brink's multiplayer has been founded on the successes and mistakes of all other FPS's before it. Don't forget that it's also in the hands of Bethesda, which has an impeccable track record.

That said, have a little faith, and let the ®evolution begin!

More people doesn't equate with a better game, more than 8 and coordination is tricky.

IMO you can make a fast paced FPS thats 2v2 ... It's not about how many players you have on the server, Whether a gamer has fun playing is all about the layout a Map has not about how many people you can see at a time.

A joke point at a certain point can either cause Frustration or make for the most fun a player has ever had busting trough a blockade at that joke point, Whether it's 20v20 or 2v2 No matter the head count. IMO I've seen every Clip out there on BRiNK and The choke points coupled with the S.M.A.R.T. system is going to put BRiNK in a class of it's own

first of wow...wraith used this lowly newb's comment in one his earlier statements so honored :woot: now back on topic...i kinda like the number of people that can be on each side for since this is going to be mainly CQC any bigger number can get hectic and cause confusion..plus if i remembered correctly one of the maps was designed by the person who created the De_Dust map for counter strike...and man i used to play that map with only 5 other friends and that was very much action packed for only 6 guys

When working as a team in a tactical way, too many players would just complicate things. It can be hard enough to get 4 or 5 people to TRULY work together. In MAG when we had a whole squad on it was good, but when we only had 3 or 4 guys logged on then getting the rest of the squad to work with you was like pulling teeth. 8 vs 8 seems to me to be fitting for this type of game, as to where Battlefield with all the vehicles and HUGE maps is more suited for 64 or more players. Splash Damage is making Brink, not MAG, COD, or Battlefield. They have been very clear that this game will be different, so trying to compare it to other games is really pointless unless we are being misled which I find to be highly unlikely.

I can see what the OP is saying though. I've known games where the idea is to win by completeing objectives and yet half the team still, and conitously through out the game, goes for those kills; when they have nothing to do with the End Game win.

It can be frustrating and he's right, theres really no way to force this change except maybe taking out the K/D ration/counter all together.

Hahaha....silly person.

SD's some of the best when it comes to Multi player. And that's all I'm going to contribute to this topic, because that's all that is needed to be said.

No fear whatsoever, I've been waiting too long for this game to come out to have any fear. Though the fact that it's almost 1 month away is driving me a little crazy :teehee:

i think there will always be people that dont play the objective in every game regardless of how they have the xp setup or whether or not you can track your kills. That might svck if they are on your team and it might be funny if they arent but in the end they paid for the game like everyone else and though it may make no sense they should be able to play the way they want. I would suggest finding people to play with as it does make the experience more enjoyable but i think brink might be the first game where even if you lose you had fun and did some sick s*** in the process.

my only fear is that people are going to be awesome with the SMART and i'll be like "wait, i cant get over this pipe"

That's what she said! :teehee:

Seriously, though: If you're generally not the most skilled person concerning movement in games, SMART won't allow you to close that gap to more skilled players.
Perhaps it will allow you to reach places you wouldn't have reached before without it, unlike others who would've managed to find a way. But then these people will find ways to take the same route a lot faster than you can.

actually on all objective modes except Search n Destroy you only get 50 points a kill. As far as domination goes you also get 150 points for defending a node which as i said is 3 times what you get for a kill.

But not all 150 capturing points carry over into the scoreboard, or do they?

First off LoL ... secondly yes there does seem to be some variation here but im not positive on the exact details it seems some gametypes do carry over all the points seen on screen and some dont .. but my point is valid none the less your not going to outscore someone who is playing the objective by sitting in a corner and getting kills or even running around and getting kills for that matter. i just finished a cap the flag match with a score of 4000 the next person under me was only at 1600 did i have alot of kills sure did some of the other people have alot of kills too yes the difference was i had 4 flag caps and 4 flag returns with almost a 3k score difference. yes brink does further separate benefits of killing from completing objectives but it changes very little there will still be plenty of kids out for kills i guarantee it. do i care what they do? nope. if they are lucky ill spray them down with a little champagne from the winners circle.
