I felt overwhelmed with all the locations there are in Skyrim. I also don't like how the icon of a new location will pop up on your compass and show you where to find it. To me, that kills the exploration aspect of the game. I am a fan of marking the location on your map once you find it (something that was not done in Morrowind), but I don't like being shown where it is before I even find it. I found myself not paying attention to the environment on the screen, but instead staring at the little compass showing me what direction to go so I could get another location on my map. This took away the fun of exploring the map and made it feel like a chore.
I also feel like the game was very repetitive. There are far too many dungeons and they have very little variation. Most of them felt pointless. The same enemies depending on which of the five or so types of dungeon it is, along with generic treasure that becomes useless at a certain point. How many rubies or grand soul gems does a guy need? It got to a point where I was going through the dungeons because I felt like I had to in order to truly complete the game, not because I was having fun.
I'm not trying to bash the game. It is great and I loved playing it for the most part. All I'm saying is that the game is too big for the amount of content it contains. It has a lot of filler.
My hopes for the next elder scrolls:
-don't show me the icon for a new location until I find it, unless I am being pointed there by a quest marker
-far less dungeons and much more variation
Thanks for reading my opinions.
