Anyone else find it hard to switch between spells with a shi

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 11:20 am

I was hoping to play a character that shield bashes and uses spells. Unfortunately, when I have a shield equipped, I can't change the spell in my right hand; it just overrides the shield. The only way I've found that I can change the spell in my right hand is to first equip and unequip a weapon in it. That clears the hand so I can put a spell in it.

There's got to be an easier way. I don't want to press tab each time I want to switch between shooting flames and summoning.

I also have this problem but I make up for it with quick fingers. I have my shield assigned on 2 and for example my healing is on 5, so if I want to equip a healing spell I quickly press 5-5-2.

It starts out slow and clunky but with practice you can do it within a second.

Not a solution to the problem really but it is a temporary one until Bethesda or a mod fixes this.

I play a spellshield too, it's pretty fun. Here's what you'd do: Hotkey whatever spells you want and shield as well. So like lightning bolt is 1 and shield is 2, firebolt or whatever else is 3. If you wanted firebolt in your mainhand you'd hit 3 twice, then 2 and you'll have firebolt right hand with shield ready to go. You're limited by 8 hotkeys but you shouldn't need more than that. Once you get used to it enough it only takes like half a second to switch up your mainhand spells.

Edit: I got beaten :P
