Anyone else getting a little bit bored of New Vegas?

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 4:49 pm

New Vegas is a great game, one of the best in existance. I'm not mocking it or whatever. But I have played it 7 hours a day since it came out, and now I'm getting a little bit bored of it. I've done just about every quest, RP'ed about every character, know all locations/weapons. It's just getting a tad bit boring. Anyone else get this feeling?

Not yet.

I rarely ever play games consistently for more then a few months because it'll be very easy to get bored of it. I played New Vegas for a few months, put it down and played something else. When I came back to New Vegas in a few more months it felt almost new again. This cycle has repeated itself for every other game I own. Because of this I haven't gotten completely bored of New Vegas so far, the last time I played was a couple of weeks ago. Now I'm on a Mass Effect binge having just finished the first one and just starting the second one. The trick is moderation and having other great games to distract you.

Mods always help. I've logged over a thousand hours in total since the game came out, now I'm starting it on PC and it's pure [censored] awesome with mods.

Mods don't do it for me.

When I get bored of New Vegas, I take breaks and play other games for a while. In this case, it's been Skyrim since it came out.

I always come back around and find the motivation to start another New Vegas playthrough. Just hasn't happened yet.

Sure, but just take a break from it and come back later when you are in the right mood for it.

7 hours each day? That's more than 3150 hours of playing NV! So their's no need to feel bad about being bored. My advice: go play Fo3, Skyrim, or go play a sport, whatever appeals to you...

GameFly is good for things like this. You can rent "filler" games you otherwise wouldn't buy/play to change pace and take breaks from games you play a lot. If you play anything enough you'll burn out on it, regardless of how good it is.

That's metaphorically. I don't LITERALLY play for 7 hours a day, I have a life and a job. Just when I have free time by myself I usually play NV, or the originals, and sometimes FO3.

Yep, I haven't played it since the last DLC and I was more than bored with it when that came out.

That being said, it took me a lot longer to be bored of FONV than it did Skyrim. I completed the Dark Brotherhood, Main story, and Thieve's guild questlines and I'm totally burnt out on the game. It took me at least 5 playthroughs of NV to get burnt out.

No matter how good a game is, if you log thousands of hours into it you will hit the burnout wall sooner or later. The fact that you can get thousands of hours out of a game is a testiment of how good a game is to you.

I have played thru Fallout New Vegas at least a dozen times and the DLC varying times (since they all came out over time). When I get that figurative feeling of "...Oh chicken sandwich again...meh..." I switch to the three S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game series or Dead Space 2 or Portal to clean my gaming palette.

I don't view it as a bad thing...just a reality.

Since a lot of games get old for me within 20 hours or the first playthru is the last...I am happy that there are games out there with a replayability aspect.

If you don't have fallout 3 buy the GOTY edition, 3 is actually better than new vegas

I'm not even finished the Thieve's Guild stuff yet and I'm getting bored of it. I get more fun running away from Giants.

Bored of F:NV? HERESY!

No, seriously, I have 1377 hours logged and that will only go up; I do rotate through my games to keep from burning out on any one of them, which helps. I'm currently making and testing personal mods for Skyrim, and was recently playing Diablo II again while waiting for Skyrim's modding kit to come out, but I fully expect to go back to F:NV again after a while.
