Is anyone else going back to Oblivion?

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 12:50 pm

I mean, sure the game has its flaws, but the whole idea of a daedra invasion seems more interesting to me. The atmosphere was great, and the factions (and the main quest imo) are better and more interesting. Sure Skyrim has better graphics, but I think Oblivion was a deeper game. Anyone else agree?

Not at all. The atmosphere was inferior, there were too many ways to game the system, and closing Oblivion gates got boring after a while. I can't think of many things where Oblivion hasn't been surpassed by Skyrim. The quest log is about the only thing where Oblivion was superior.

Are dragon fights really that much better?

I loved oblivion, the quests were actually pretty awesome, like getting septims armor, getting the statue in bruma, I loved that, i just wish that it had the skyrim graphics, and the dialouge remade.

The dragon fights are awesome. The animation for the dragons is great, it's always an epic battle, and they're intimidating enemies. I like fighting dragons more than anything else in the game.

I'll probably go back, after getting tired of Morrowind, which will be after I get tired of Skyrim.

I never left oblivion. I play them both. Obviously skyrim a bit more since I haven't been playing it for 5 years yet.

Eh, probably not. It feels a bit awkward looking at Oblivion now that I'm playing Skyrim. Especially the walking animations and the CPU bottleneck

I played Skyrim for a week and then went back to look at Oblivion. It's like watching a cartoon compared to reality. The colors were oversaturated, the faces looked like bizarre aliens with some sort of genetic disease affecting their bone structure in their face, and the vegetation was sparse and primitive looking compared to Skyrim.

Probably. I'll revisit Oblivion if I ever feel like being a mage and having fun.

Hey,

I discoverd Morrowind and Oblivion late....well after they got slotted to the budget sphere. I'm actually putting a bit of time into Morrowind.....I like the endless layers of stats and the requirements to join and advance in guilds......Like damn. I play a fighter who uses a shield and only some restoration magic and I became Archmage of the mages guild in Skyrim......like really that was a big letdown.

I like the perks system but it's also something I think helped porting it to the consoles.....no gripe....it's all economics and you just need that mega hit cross platforms it seems these days......

Still. There's plenty of hours left in Morrowind then I'll get back to Skyrim......I did the main quest of oblivion but it's true after the first oblivion gate it became a bit of a chore with the levelling system.

I've already gone back. I still play Skyrim a lot but IMO Oblivion was a much better game, quest-wise.

The daedra invasion was annoying and gave too much of a sense of urgency, more than random dragon spawns. I'd prefer not to trigger the main quests soon in either one, but I like Oblivion less.

I might try. I've only completed one guild questline in Oblivion and I hear the questlines are A LOT better than Skyrim's. The Thieve's Guild one was about the same in awesomeness to me.

Oh...gods no, a lame and uninspiring main quest along with game mechanics that forces you to avoid leveling up or you will be looking forward to endless combats where enemies take 50-70 hits to defeat.

Skyrim fixed so many of the things that went horribly wrong with Oblivion!

I'm planning to play Oblivion again right now. I've been putting together a new mod list for the last few hours. I want to see if I really do miss Attributes as much as I think I do.
